New Butler County talkgroups

For the last few weeks I have been listening to the Butler County Sheriff on TG 2081. Yesterday the
Butler County Sheriff Warrant Channel came online on TG 2046. Butler County EMS is operating on 2093
and 2099. I heard a rumor that all of Butler County is supposed to be up and running by March 7th. About
2 weeks ago I heard a tone alert on TG 486 which is the Kingman County Sheriff. There was no voice on the TG and I have not heard anything since then. Is anybody picking them up?. If you are, what tower and
what control channel are you using.

I am beginning to think they have already switched EMS. maybe even El Dorado PD. I am not hearing squat from EMS or PD on the old 4xx frequencies.

I may have the wrong frequencies.. but this was in the database, but I am not hearing anything on this either.

2268 8dc D ButlerCoFire Butler County Fire Dispatch Fire Dispatch
2269 8dd D ButlerCo EMS Butler County EMS Dispatch EMS Dispatch
2299 8fb D ButlerEMS/ER Butler Co EMS -- Ambulance-to-Hospital for patient reports EMS-Talk
2301 8fd D Butler Co EM Butler County Emergency Management Emergency Ops

Shocker and Shrek - you guys have the wrong talk groups... KS4260 knows what he is talking about.

Butler County Sheriff, EMS, El Dorado PD, Rose Hill PD, Leon PD, Benton PD, and Emergency Management have all migrated to the new system. Augusta, Andover and all Fire Departments are still on 400...for now. That will change in the near future. Every agency in the County will be moving to 800, but it won't be by March 7th.

Don't know who posted the EMS and Fire Dispatch TG's to the database, but they are wrong. I can confirm the following: 2281 SO Dispatch; 2293 EMS Dispatch, 2270 possibly County Fire Dispatch, 2278 was just referred to as EMA Ops so I'm guessing 2301 may be an EMA Admin channel. I've heard what sounds like SO car to car traffic and I can't find my note right now but seems like it was 2282, 2283 or 2288.

My Bad

I agree with you on the Butler County TG's, I left out the 2 in 2281 for the Butler County So. I do know what I am talking about it was a typo error. But I have not heard El Dorado Pd yet on that TG. All I have heard recently on Butler Co. is 2281, 2293 and 2299 and 2046. Tonight during the storms I have been
hearing alot on the 2278. Heard other TG's but I do not know who they are.

2046 is a South Central 10 Interop TG; it is not exclusive to Butler County. I've not heard anything on 2268 or 2269.

Tg 2046

All I know is that I had never heard 2046 until Saturday Morning. By 7:30 A.M. the Butler County Sheriff
was all over the County serving arrest warrants on that TG. They were in El Dorado, Augusta, Potwin,
Rosehill, Leon, Whitewater, and Andover. I heard at least 20 people being arrested and going to the Butler
County Jail in El Dorado. Some were taken to Andover P.D. and the Sedgwick County Sheriff picked them
up there and transported them to the Sedgwick County Jail. It was on TG 2046, and it was all day, They were also in rural Butler County.

My guess would be some sort of joint agency warrant sweep, probably involving officers from several departments/counties and possibly state agencies. That's exactly the type of thing that the Regional interop TG's were designed for.

Silly question... mind you I am a newbie on all this trunking stuff.. but why isn't all the talkgroups made public, versus us having to hunt them down? Didn't we pay for the radios? (taxpaying citizen)

Talkgroups

DGruver I do not find TG 2046 in the listing you said it was in. So I believe TG 2046 is still the warrant
channel for Butler County Sheriff, unless you have a TG list that is different than the data base that is listed here. I don't see it in the South Central 10 interop like you said it was. On Tuesday Morning at 12:25
A.M. I heard Lyon County EMS #2 telling Emporia Dispatch that they would be out at Wesley Hospital
in Wichita to pick up their patient on TG 4003. That is the first time I have heard that TG used by anybody.
At 12:40 A.M. Ambulance #2 advised Emporia Dispatch that they would be headed back to Emporia with
their patient. This was once again on 4003.

4003 is NE4 PSAP, but Lyon County ambulances use it more than anyone else.

I guarantee that dgruver's information is correct. The regional interop talkgroups are widely used by agencies- especially when they are traveling outside their jurisdiction or are working with other agencies. The traffic you have heard are perfect examples of what those talkgroups were created for.

It's really not heard to figure out, just takes a little work. The best thing to do with a trunking system is to make an Excel spreadsheet listing a range of possible TG ID numbers. Then you fill in what you know, in this case from the RR database, and look for holes and patterns. There are some readily apparent patterns in the State system. The holes? You just plug those in and listen to see who/what shows up. In this case, knowing that there are 14 DHS sub-regions and each has a PSAP, MED, EOC, LAW, EMER MGMT, FIRE, EMS and PWKS talkgroup it wasn't hard to figure out where they fit in.

Have been hearing Washburn University police in Topeka on digital today. It does not appear they are simulcasting traffic on the Shawnee County analog system. This is interesting in that Topeka Police still does not have any access and the Topeka dispatch center only has access to KHP Troop B 1 and NE 5 PSAP on digital.

On another topic it appears Troop B has switched their usage of talkgroups. I havent exactly figured out what is where but it appears Shawnee, Osage and Wabaunsee units are utilizing Troop B 1 and at least Franklin county units are on Troop B 2. I haven't heard much traffic in the other counties. Perhaps one of the others that knows geography better than me on here can confirm he other counties. It appears the zone talkgroups are now being utilized like tactical channels. A KHP unit attempted a traffic stop last week on Troop B 1 and went 10-32 and all traffic immediately switched to Zone B Ops. This is good and bad for mutual aid purposes the way I see it. The local counties are now able to hear KHP units that are in their area on one channel however once they switch to a zone channel they can't communicate. From what I understand KHP and KDOT have not allowed any of the local guys to have access to the zone channels. During this chase they asked for Shawnee County to setup with spike strips at the county line. Once Shawnee County was notified it sounded like they had no idea what was happening with the chase and had to keep calling KHP.

Ive been told that in Troop B, troopers are now using B1 for north of I70 and B2 for south of I70.
