Yeah my handheld antenna's are picking up from beyond 30 miles. But I am in Wichita.... Very, very flat surrounding here.
Jackson County is in the northeast region, and to my knowledge, that's what all of the counties here received.
Shawnee county attempted a motobridge patch last week with Coffey county last week for a hazmat event they were backing them up on. They were working on the 8TAC channels but were not coming across on the digital side.

The 25 mile radius isn't a hard and fast rule. Everything will depend on your location, elevation and the antenna you are using. You may be able to pick up several sites if you select the right antenna and mount it properly.
That is incorrect. Jackson County and two other counties made deals to swap out equipment. The actual numbers are 15 portables, nine mobiles and a PSAP radio, a TroopB 1 radio and a radio for B Evt #2.
Talked to someone yesterday who should know; said the rebanding of the remaining KSICS towers in central Kansas should be completed in about 3 weeks. Also found out perhaps what the mystery site 136 is that pops up from time to time on the affiliated sites list in pro96com....rather than take a site down while they reprogram, they bring in a portable trunking site; program it to the current tower freqs, and connect it to the tower antennas while they reprogram the site repeaters. Takes a lot of time, but keeps the system working in that area while they program.
If they are rebanded, the system freqs just went down 15 MHz...if the channels were 866.xxxx, they are now 851.xxxx. Just re-enter the freqs with the new lower channels, or better yet put them both in for now, and you should start hearing them again. The entire system is supposed to be rebanded by mid-2012. And we are using Pro96com to see the system information; including the roving site 136.
Thanks the last two frequencies on the list could not go down the full 15 but I can now hear them again.

Don't quite understand your post and the reference to 2 frequencies not going down 15 MHz, but anyway I just put the PSR500 on the outside antenna and fired up Pro96com...looks like Great Bend, Rush Center, Bennington and Cottonwood Falls have been rebanded. I would venture a guess that they are moving south so Fellsburg, Lyons, Partridge and Preston might be next. But that's only a guess.
If you have Pro96com software and have the time, you might take a snapshot of each site within range and post it to the database. This will keep it correct and up to date. As a side note on that, I did notice an undocumented feature (aka "bug") in Pro96com. If you have saved a site's info previously, the program does read channel information back in even if that channel is not actually being used anymore. I had to rename all my previous Tower0xxx.txt files to Tower0xxx.old and then start the program to save the correct data....
