Considerably increased traffic today on the Topeka tower on NE 5-Fire & Med and ICS 1 & 2. They are naming Topeka streets and talking about different rescue operations. Sounds like a large scale drill.

We are working a two day simulated large scale disaster caused by a tornado that hit Topeka. The majority of the traffic will be on the ICS and NE 5 interop groups.

I see there is a new tower connected to the Buffalo and West Mineral towers. Site 141 or T0129 with a control channel of 251.9375. Doing a FCC search, the location is near Altamont in Labette county. Can anyone get the site information on Pro96Com for submission?

I seen this just yesterday in the database and programmed the freqs into my scanners. My base scanner is picking up the traffic on that tower and so far I've noticed LB county related traffic and maybe KHP- I need to give it more listening time. :p

Strangely tho, I'm having problems receiving the Altamont tower on my mobile (both my base and mobile are 796Ds). It could be an antenna problem as the ant. I'm using is not tuned anywhere near 800. :(

Any chance you could send me a copy of the completed ICS205 form for the exercise? I'm curious to see how you ran comms for that. Did you run into any problems with towers busying out due to the extra traffic?

A lot of stuff happens in Troop E. I live in the northern area of the Troop E. I travel a lot to Hays and Wichita. There's a spot west of Hutch where I swear I can hear every Highway patrol troop in the state for a 10 mile stretch or so. If people are not listening to the KHP channels & talk groups they are missing out on a lot of good scanner traffic. Plus the KHP sound so much more professional then any other agency that I have listened to.

Yup that is for sure it covers a big part of the state as Well) The Gentleman that's in charge of the Whole western half of the State i know Very well.

When i met him for the Very first time back in the early 80's he was just a Master Trooper). He's moved up the Ranks over the years to were He is Now over that whole area..

But on to what you mentioned about hearing all the Troops west of Hutch when your in this Area your Very Close to the Partridge Tower it's one of the Tallest in the State as the County is close to being in the middle of the state as i was told by the Trooper i use to Ride with).

We drove by it a few times.. And if you turn on Arlington RD @ Arlington Going east through Town and about a mile or Two out you'll see the Tower it has Two long Sticks at the very Top of the Tower.

New site just north of Hays

KDOT has licensed a new, 8 channel trunked site just north of Hays on US 183.

It's been licensed and active since for almost a year, it was just modified although I didn't dig into it to see how. dg

I just caught that- not sure how I missed it. It isn't the first time I have missed a site on the list! Might be time to check with the Doc!
