So I guess as long as I'm hearing something from post 2, I'm hearing what I'm going to hear is what you are saying. I get good reception.

Yup, don't matter where you're at. There's just 1 dispatch channel per post, all the frequencies for a post broadcast the same traffic. The troopers radios have special software to detect which tower is giving best signal and uses it.

Thanks. I don't know why I'm not hearing anything from post 3 but I'm not all that too concerned with that. I like hearing everything from KSP 2 and the local stuff in Todd Co. Now if I could figure out why I can't get anything out of Montgomery County, TN.

Thanks again for your help.

For post 3, try 460.3375, thats the Russellville tower in Logan County.

Ksp Encryption

Do my ears deceive me?Monitoring post 9 during a robbery and everything went south parts of the conversation was completely digital and i don't think it was poor signal sounds like encryption to me.Anyone else know anything about this?

KSP post 11 sounded like that some today also but all is normal. Only one thing to note though they have some new dispatchers now and some new troopers in the post 11 area. The woman dispatcher said Richmond one time so I guess she is a transfer to London from Richmond post. Also NEW ksp unit #'s so I assume they have relocated some as unit 333 ust to work for post 10 now working for post 11

I hope your right but i have a feeling they can now encrypt from what i have been hearing,I have a psr 600 and Never heard this before,I have a perfect signal and it's happening again today it sounds like encryption to me both sides are in bits and pieces and when they go back in the clear there are no complaints from either side about there radio's,I hope i am wrong but i don't think i am..

I have been listening to Post 8 and Post 14 for the past few day and there is no indication of encryption. Nothing major going on though.

Have you noticed it since your post?

I've got my PSR-500 locked on manual. I'll leave it there for a few days and see what happens.

I know the post commander at Columbia. I'll send him an email and see if he can confirm or deny encryption.

Radio Shack PRO-106

Does anyone use the PRO-106 to monitor KSP with? If so, does it monitor them well? Radio Shack is running a pretty good sale, so I was considering buying it, particularly if I got positive feedback about it. I bought a PRO-2096, and it works well, but, in order for it to reliably 100% decode all of the time on KSP's traffic, I have to have the priority on. Otherwise, when a trooper hits the 10-8 or 10-97, etc. button on his mic, the scanner will not decode the digital transmission. I was wondering if the PRO-106 does this?? By the way, I live in the post 16 area (if that makes any difference).

I drive thru KY on I-65 frequently and always hear them well with PRO-106. Using their 800MHz antenna I don't miss much. Can alos hear new Louisville system and the "old" Bowling Green TRS well.

I use the Pro-106 in my car and travel extensively in the eastern part of the state and can't say that I miss much. Just tonight I heard a trooper at Post 14 keep telling the dispatcher to 10-9 that they had went digital. It was on his end because I heard both ends of the conversation clearly. I don't believe you will be disappointed.

Also the 2096 doesn't support the NAC codes, so if you have another system sharing a frequency with KSP, you will get their analog/digital in addition to KSP.

I heard back from the post commander in Columbia. He is not aware of any encryption. He did advise that they are doing some upgrades that "during the process of upgrading will mess with a digital scanner". I didn't ask him to clarify, but if he was aware of encryption, there is no doubt in my mind that he would have confirmed it.

I've been listening to Post 14 Greenup Tower A (453.55 NAC 195) for the past few days and haven't heard anything that sounds like encryption. Last night there was some traffic that, IMO, would have been encrypted if it was available.
