I feel like a complete dolt. I'm getting KSP fine again, same codes, just that my antenna is crap. I looked up and turns out my scanner may have some sort of damage because it doesn't pick up hardly anything anymore. Gonna try sending it back to RS and see what they can do. :)

Everything is listed in the Kentucky State Police Data Base:
460.21250 WPTC982 RM 191 NAC KSP16BSacmnt Sacramento-Mc Lean County Transmitter P25 Law Dispatch
460.20000 KDX279 RM 190 NAC
KSP16AHndrsn Henderson(South)- Henderson County Transmitter P25 Law Talk
The TAC freqs are listed as well but you'll need to be very close to hear them....
As has been pointed out before, the best way to monitor KSP is to program all the towers in the Post you want to monitor...that includes both "A" and "B" Channels (if something has all the "B" freqs restricted then normal traffic goes to "A", etc.)...

If I program in the Covington frequency for post 6, should I hear all the units throughout the different systems in post 6. In other words, if I'm listening on the Covington tower frequency, I'll hear radio traffic from other units on a different tower, say down around Cittenden, since all of post 6 sites are linked together?

Yup, you got it! All of the post 6 traffic is simulcast on all of the post 6 frequencies. You can start by just monitoring the Convington frequency.

Nice, I'll program the frequency into my BCD396XT, when I get home from work.

Nope, been listening the last couple of day's and haven't heard a thing, I'm wondering if their even rebroadcasting on the Covington towers. I even have them programmed as RX only on my XTS 3000 and I don't hear anything. I can hear Covington PD just fine, even better when they are using P25, but nothing from KSP Covington towers. Any idea's of why I'm not receiving them?

It is better to program all of the KSP freqs into your radio... Sometimes B is restricted and routine traffic goes to A... Being south of Post 6, most of the traffic I hear is the other towers.... but I do hear the Covington tower on occaison.

Makes me wonder - I don't hear anything on that Convington tower either!

Makes me wonder too, oh well. Hey everyone, on a side note, I know this is a KSP forum, but since were talking about Covington, I've notice that ever since I've programmed Covington PD as an RX only frequency on my Motorola XTS 3000, I've notice that when they use P25 over analog, I receive them better then I do when their in analog, with louder and cleaner audio.

For example, I was walking through a hallway at work, and in that part of the building, the analog audio would cut in and out, then the dispatcher transmitted in P25 and it came in loud and clear inside the building, the units replied back in analog mode and their signal was cutting in and out. Obviously the P25 on conventional UHF works better then analog, so why doesn't Covington PD use P25 all of the time?

Post 6 was active but couldn't pick up anything on Covington. The other B frequencies were coming in pretty weak though. Let me know what you find out.

I'm going to program the rest of the post 6 frequencies as RX only into my XTS 3000, but I doubt that I will hear them as far away as I am.

Covington PD has been running in mixed mode for atleast the last four years, they seem to only use P25 for when they transmit messages they don't want others to hear.
