After reading this post, I added 159.090 into my scanner and monitored.
I heard activity and found out that 159.090 is license to Wyoming County Sheriff Dept in W.V. which is not to far from eastern Ky.

The Wyoming County FCC license listing can be found here:

Hi Tim,
Roger on the new callsign, we all mostly stay on 147.090 now, but activity on it is way down. Good to hear from you.

Thanks
Eddie

Ksp Analog

Just wondering it has alway's been said that the ksp p25 system can go analog at any given time..Well i don't think this is so,Because i have heard them lose contact with there HT"s and mobiles more than one occasion and when they say "hey your completely digital"Then why not try and contact them analog..All i hear them say is if you have cell service call in or find a phone? So i think p25 is what it is and no way at least on the ksp system to go analog...

The KSP p-25 system is full time digital.... the hand held/mobile repeater stuff is analog to the digital radio in the car.... the statewide freq is both p-25 and analog depending upon whose vehicle it is in (and, consequently, as part of the KY Mutual Aid Initiative).... when dispatch or a Trooper say the radio has gone digital that means the thing is sounding like it would if monitored on an analog scanner or a digital scanner with the mode set incorrectly..... basically the radio's transmission is too weak for the receiver to decode the digital signal.....

still working on the 159.090 thing.... gotta get some other freq that would be an input, get near a car using that freq.... something that will help pin down the exact id....

Up till a week ago i had no problems hearing KSP London, HAZZARD and HARLAN. Iam in Harlan. KSP London and Harlan were on same freq. Hazzard was a different freq.

1. Now its like they switched systems are freq. Post Harlan is on a total different freq which i think is down compared to last freq. hazzard and london are not that great.

on the london and hazzard post it may be iam working so hard to fiquere exactly what frequency Harlan post is using. i live to close to post and i get mirror' freq.

anybody got ideas , have i missed something. thanks andrew stoots

KSP RADIO info

I have had and still have the same frequencies in scanners. but 460.2375 i heard Harlan and most of the time London . London was tricky due to distance but usually tweaking antenna . But its like last Monday i went to sleep and when i woke up Harlan ksp switched radio systems and frequencies. I live bye air maybe 5 miles from Harlan post so i get lots of mirror frequencies untill i listen for traffic back to post. i think its 460.2875 they are using. if someone could verify this by conformation not by frequency list.

ive tried different antennas but all using same coax type . i have 4 grove beams up on same pole and coax is all the same and was put up at the same time. I hoped it was radio trouble at Harlan Post maybe repeater trouble. It could be on my end. maybe ice on antenna or anything. but was hoping someone was experincing same thing.thanks andrew stoots harlan ky.

I hear Hazzard post on 460.1625 main. 460.4625 and 3125 as hazzard post but mainly car to car .

460.2375 453.6125 as london main frequency. 460.0625 as car to car.

460.2375 as up to last monday Harlan ksp main freq. 453.600 car to car .
but now i believe it is 460.2875. would like verfication of 460.2875 due to fact it is weaker on me. Post to CAR than what 460.2375 was.

I do live to close to KSP Post and do get lots of mirror freq's untill i try to hear CAR TO Post traffic. thanks andrew stoots

From what I'm understanding, does the portable radio trasnmit to the mobile radio in the car which acts as a mobile repeater?

While listening to the KSP with a Uniden 396t, I notice that sometimes there is a loud obnoxious sound at the beginning of their tranmission, almost like a page being sent out. I know a fellow that has a Radio Shack Digital scanner and his does not do this.
Can I possiblaly block this out?

Thanks

Do the UHF radios still have the coverage reliability as the mobiles being as they're so much lower power? Are the VHF portables analog then? I know some of the troopers where I work have our VHF frequenices programmed in.
