$400 is cheap...I know a few ppl that spent about $2400 on Astro Sabers before P-25 scanners were available

If I set it to 10, motorboat is all I hear.

I agree. I use a PRO 96 and I did the 1.4 DSP upgrade and it seemed to make it worse. (I went back to 1.2) It seemed like KSP would be talking and all of a sudden all you would hear was "digital hash." It might clear up and you could hear the rest of the transmission, but mostly not.
According to the troopers I talked to, the status buttons are to let dispatch know when they are 10-8, 10-7, Emergency, etc. (he won't share any more than that)
Not sure what is going on, but every once in a while, I hear Henderson and Madisonville dispatch report that they can not hear the units due to the "digital" noise or as one dispatcher referred to it as a waterfall. And I noticed that this occurs all hours of the day & night, no specific time.

1. Does a KSP officer have to activate his mobile repeater before his portable will work?
2. If yes, what frequencies does it operate on? (154.66500 - Mobile Extenders / 154.92000 Portable Repeater / 153.92000 Portable Repeater/Tac Ops.)
3. It seems I have seen several different (TAC/Talkaround) channels listed, are their different ones in different areas or are some just old?
Thanks for the help.
