A couple of talk groups for further investigation:
Off Bellefontaine tower, 22506, 22512 ems? 22514 county engineer? All fall into Hardin County and all had rid's starting with 33xx (Hardin)
Off of Dayton, 35004 with an ems report
Various towers:
54131, rid 94xx
51792, tac1?
51717, plane tac?
If anyone can help figure these out.

If you monitor a First Energy talkgroup that isn't currently listed in the DB, please spend time determining what the talkgroups' use is.

Recently we had two separate submissions:

53700 Fairlawn DCC
53707 Fairlawn DCC

I'm not saying there can't be two Fairlawn DCCs. But I am saying it is highly unlikely. Just look at the other First Energy talkgroups.

More than likely somebody was calling Fairlawn DCC on one or both of the above talkgroups and a dispatcher answered. But that doesn't mean they are both DCC talkgroups. The DCC dispatcher likely can/will be heard on multiple talkgroups.

So you really have to pay attention to the type of activity occurring on the talkgroups and not just submit as soon as you hear "xxxx DCC".

Thanks!

I can confirm that listening over the weekend, as I was the one that submitted TG 53707 it had traffic 'Fairlawn DCC out' multiple times.

To confuse matters more 53702 was answering today as "Fairlawn DCC"

Ohio Edison

Here in Springfield, OE will use 53714 for (Springfield DDC) Fairlawn DDC as all truck have radios installed and parked on there until the cutover from Sprint down here by years end.

Ohio Edison has the following service centers in Ohio
Elyria, Fairlawn, Kent, Macedonia, Mansfield, Marion, Massillon, Medina, Salem, Sandusky, Springfield, Warren & Youngstown Also Penn electric div. of Ohio Edison has service centers in Pa. at Cranberry, Clark & New Castle.

CEI I see Euclid and E. 24th St. Cleveland service centers not listed and Toledo Edison has a service center in Toledo not listed either.

The above will have there own TG's for there service area. and DDC, ATSI may have more regional TGs for substation and transmission.

And you can add 53712 to the list where users are calling Fairlawn DCC. I'm trying to record MARCS only for a bit to see if I can make any sense from what's coming off the three MARCS sites that cover Summit County.

Keep in mind that "DDC" stands for "District Dispatch Center" or "Division Dispatch Center" (or variations thereof). The same issue exists to a certain extent for the AEP EDACS system; if a user is calling the dispatcher, they call their service area, i.e. "Columbus West DDC," "Canton DDC" and so on. If they're calling one of the local shops they'll generally say something like "Newark Line" or "Lancaster Line" and so on.

So, you could easily have users on talkgroups with various functions (Dispatch, Transmission, Line, Service, Meter, etc) all calling the dispatcher at Fairlawn, answering to "Fairlawn DDC."

Only way to truly identify the talkgroup use is to listen for awhile. Isn't identifying this kind of thing half the fun of this hobby anyway?

I finally successfully loaded Violet Fire on my BCD436HP (MECC in Franklin County). The audio quality, especially the automated Dispatch, is a little "choppy." By that I mean syllables of words seem to drop out.
Are there any "adjustments" that can be made program-wise like "Threshold" or baud rate that can help? The signal strength in the upper left of the display seems to be full scale.

Make sure you have the current Firmware Version. Within the Site programming set the Digital Threshold Mode to Manual and the level to 8. This helps a little.

TG49516 Wayne County?

Monitored part of a transmission on TG49516 with a RID of 85xxxxx. 85 should be Wayne County. When I checked the TG database I see 49514 Wooster Fire and 49518 Wooster - Orrville PD.

Can anyone provide additional information?

TG49504 another Wayne Cnty TG

Monitored a second TG with a 85xxxxx RID (Wayne County), TG49504. The traffic sounded like an EMS or Fire Squad call. I only caught a partial transmission.

Both TG49504 and TG49516 were monitored on the Cuyahoga Site.
