I'll let it ride a couple weeks, but they have bben dead so far.
FWIW - 158.79 - never copied anything on it - ever. .91 is just the repeater input.
I submitted those way back as such and got a "unfriendly " reply, probably 10 years ago .. or more.

used to live in ohio, growing up. been back recently and used the marcs system. amazing how things have changed since the 70's. great statewide system. amazing. i watch this forum for changes. if anyone is near mentor east of cleveland, do u copy trumbulll correctional institution? used to work there. i think you need be closer for the tower that does? any info would be helpful.

great to know. when i visit willowick, willoughby, eastlake, etc etc, i dont believe i pick up the tower than has TCI on it. have you any experience with that? what city are you close to, so i can look it up on the map. any good action, or just routine?
I've been in Mentor and received TCI off the MARCS Geauga County Simulcast site(s).
Pretty mundane. Mostly stuff like, "Signal one for lunch". "Signal three in the yard" and so forth.
Now if the prisoners started a good ole fashioned riot, that would be some good listening for sure.
lol, i worked in that prison, taught college. hate to see a riot in there. my guys always told me, we like you, but if we have to kill you, we have to kill you. dont take it peronally. i was like, no, no worries. lol. i never heard them when i was in mentor. most of last summer. strange!

I am in Russell Township. Despite my outside Yagi and Discone antennas I cannot hear any Lake County Towers. All my reception comes off of Geauga Towers or the Cuyahoga Tower in Chagrin Falls. Some, not all of Lake County units affiliate with Geauga Towers. As to Trumbull Correctional I hear them off both Geauga and Cuyahoga Towers here in Russell. I agree with Nasby, very mundane. While I track hits I could not tell you anything about the many Trumbull Correctional transmissions since I don't pay attention. Hope this helps.
when i come back this summer, i will get a geauga tower when i am out and about as i would like to hear TCI. i never got it on the mentor tower the other op talked about. i did move around quite a bit, never received them at all. yes, prison transmissions prob are mundane unless there is a lockdown or riot or something. i learned a lot about prison life teaching in there. my guys told me the dirt after class. u dont want to go to prison! lol

Sound is terriable since switching to MARCS
Local Police (Circleville) are now on MARCS but the sound is very muffled and garbled is there a way to clear it up at all? I have a BCD996p2 with a JTD-1 DISCONE antenna about 20ft up looking for suggestions

Discone antennas are "killers" on simulcats systems. The antenna hears in 360 degree radius and if you are hearing more than one MARCS tower with Circleville on it your will get the distortion your are hearing. Try just using a rubber duck and see if signal clears up.

No luck with stock antenna but I dont think we have more than 1 site only have 3-5 cops on duty

Are they on a simulcast site or a single site (IR)? If they are on a simulcast site the distortion you're hearing is likely caused by your scanner getting the signal from two or more towers in the same simulcast at the same time. In these simulcast systems the signals are broadcast from each tower a fraction of a second apart. Subscriber radios have the necessary hardware to put these signals together. If you know any of the officers ask them if they have any issues with their radios. If they don't then simulcast distortion is likely your answer. If they do then that tells me there is a system issue or something causing interference.

Actually there are three sites in Pickaway County:
Orient Site Pickaway: 774.83125 (c), 771.10625 (a)
Circleville Site Pickaway: 772.45625 (c), 771.73125 (a)
Pickaway County Site Pickaway: 853.925 (c), 853.5625 (a), 853.6375 (a), 853.875 (a)
The Circleville Site has just one tower, can not be simulcast. http://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?fccCallsign=WQRR299
The Pickaway County Site has two towers and is listed as Circleville. Could be simulcast. WPJM556 (PICKAWAY, COUNTY OF) FCC Callsign Details
Orient is a one tower site, can not be simulcast. WQRC779 (OHIO, STATE OF) FCC Callsign Details
You might consider setting up the two Circleville sites separately. Enter the same Talk Groups. Then, see if you receive one site better than the other.
