12:30PM local some tuning tones on 11175 then strong signal blast of what sounded like RTTY type signal tones..
Maybe some Ham op playing around ..

HrDoes anyone know if 6761 kHz is still used for A-A refueling? Additionally, are there any other mil HF networks still in use for clear voice or ALE besides COTHEN and HFGCS?
Thank you. I have a pretty limited shack and can't reliably copy west coast ground stations, but I've programmed in TACAMO CA-CI, FACSFAC, and TOC Jacksonville. After months of hearing nothing on Norfolk SESEF frequencies and the USCG cutter net, I figured I'd try something else.Hr

Interesting the aircraft operator unkeys for the final time and the sound goes away as well2056 EST - Andrews doing a test count on 11175
2100 EST - Shalamar standing by for traffic call 2 times, no reply. Sounds like the same guy but much stronger, and some sort of noise with the transmission. Data ? 11175 Audio
2130 EST - Shalamar standing by for traffic, no reply. I guess they do a call ever 30 minutes on the hour and at half past.
or intentional interference during the exercise to add more realism. All they really need to do is pay one of those heater running CBers to get on the frequency with reverb and echo effects to make it more challenging.12:30PM local some tuning tones on 11175 then strong signal blast of what sounded like RTTY type signal tones..

I might try Mayport since FL is almost always booming here. My antenna isn't configured for NVIS so just offshore is in the skip zone for me.HR
I believe the USCG 5693 & 8983 went silent years ago. ALE & SATCOM probably took over. Alot of folks in the HF world are posting activity on the Norfolk & Mayport SESEF HF freqs. Lots of interesting (to me) ship tactical (nickname) calls being posted. Larry Van Horn years ago posted alot of info on SESEF ops.

Decent view from Benson, NCFalcon Heavy trying Space Force X-37B launch tonight with only a 10 minute launch window at 8:07PM local.
Supposed to hug the Northeast US Coast but clouds here are not helping...
Couple airline pilots yakking on 121.500 up this way seeing the launch...Decent view from Benson, NC
I remember something about possibly having the nosewheel try and do a hard turn with a B systems fail, and that's why an arrestment was to be done, (if I remember the rumors right). (A/B models). Its been a number of years, but the Utility system has an A & B side. I do know in almost every instance of a Utility system, Circuit A or Circuit B light inflight that I've seen or known about, they almost always take the barrier, IE, use the tail hook to catch the arresting cable for landing attempts with those conditions.

This was really fascinating to me, so I did a little bit of looking up (google maps) and it shows the outline of Erma NJ ending before the airport.KWWD has more names for it than anything.
Wildwood Airport
Cape May County Airport
Cape May Airport
even though it is located in Erma NJ (Lower Township) but its address is Rio Grande NJ (Middle Township) !!
Yes technically but Erma is in Lower Township (that encompasses the airport and Erma). Middle Township which includes Rio Grande ends before the airport. So someone may have closed their eyes and pointed at the map and when they open their eyes - their finger was pointing to Rio Grande. The Unicom calls are interesting too - pilots call it by the various names !!This was really fascinating to me, so I did a little bit of looking up (google maps) and it shows the outline of Erma NJ ending before the airport.
I thought there were more airports than that in the area, that's why I started looking.
Thanks
Joel
The map situation at least on Google is terrible with Middle township, just following the outlines of the township on the map is annoying, it's just all over the place, including through a building.Yes technically but Erma is in Lower Township (that encompasses the airport and Erma). 0645L- Both HC-130's showing on the ground in Bermuda. Maybe getting ready to depart.2 HC-130J's (16-5857 & 16-5858) 130th RQS CA ANG flew across the country non-stop and look to be heading to Bermuda.
Just a stop on their way overseas or part of the Presidental CAP?
Even though the airport is physically located in Lower Township, it is covered by the Rio Grande post office hence why the mailing address is Rio Grande.KWWD has more names for it than anything.
