Jay,

Just listen carefully and usually they will ask for the next ATC freq and then repeat it back to the ground controller. In my case, I have all the ATC UHF freqs for a 200mile radius from my location in my scanners. So, when they don't say their next freq, I usually catch them anyway.
Justin

Unless you have a setup like Ron's where he has all the UHF ATC frequencies programmed in.....the best way to hear the frequency change is to stay on the frequency they are currently on....when they are given a change of frequency --you will hear the change repeated by the crew.

If you continue scanning other frequencies that talk a lot you will miss the frequency change. The change occurs quickly and once it does (unless they cannot contact ATC on the next frequency) you will lose them.

I agree with carbine and think that post was bad idea but for other reasons.Yes I heard them too.
I have no problems with routine recordings of mil traffic being posted though not my bag.
Seems to me was attempt to embarrass the crews posting that stuff. How would you like it if you
were clowning around a bit at work and someone recorded and posted to u tube without your knowledge.
I'm sure you would not appreciate that.
The Squad CO will eventually get wind of this and pilots as well, The notice may go out that someone in Delaware is taping
you guys and publishing it.. The CO will tell pilots to watch your coms and maybe knockoff chit chat. They may laugh it off as well.
Look we all know this goes on and I have heard all kinds of Mil salty talk A/A over the last 25 years but John Q public
may get the wrong impression that our fighter pilots are all clowns not doing their jobs course we know different.
Like I suggested last week keep coms on the business and not the personal pilot com stuff.
The reason they do that on their air to air is because the comms on Huntress frequencies including the refueling frequency are being recorded. Huntress does that for training and obviously for security and control reasons. Think of the ATC controllers and the comms of pilots and ATC being recorded. If something gets screwed up - they have something to go back and review to correct for the future.

I do very little recording of aircraft comms - since it is usually routine comms. What the crews do to stay alert while they go around in circles for hours and hours at a time is up to them. For sure it has to be boring after doing it over and over again.

Notice over past week or so N51FN an old 1976 LJ-35 belonging to L-3 working offshore Virginia.
Judging by photo location this plane gets around.

Almost acts like a target aircraft dropping down near 500 feet at 300 knots etc.
History shows been based at Newport News for a long time since maybe 2006..funny never noticed it before.
