Notice over past week or so N51FN an old 1976 LJ-35 belonging to L-3 working offshore Virginia.
Judging by photo location this plane gets around.

Almost acts like a target aircraft dropping down near 500 feet at 300 knots etc.
History shows been based at Newport News for a long time since maybe 2006..funny never noticed it before.
These L-3 Learjets usually carry EW training pods and have the capability to tow gunnery targets. They fly out of KPHF on a pretty regular basis along with Phoenix Air and ATAC. Note the blue AN/ALQ-167 variant and the white/grey pod on the underside.DSC_8528.jpeg

Nice.. Also see this ALQ-167 pod is called the Angry Kitten pod :) Used also by the aggressor squadrons.
May work on the MQ-9 Reaper drone.. Neat pic of Real devilish looking kitten decal with Red Star showing on an ALQ-167 pod here.
The things you learn here on this group..

I've got mixed/weird feelings about these things....

It's great we can replicate the way the bad guys work.... I just think it's funny how we end up being better at it than they are.... Same goes for opposing forces during ground exercises... WE have the best Russian tank battalion around.

To add to that, remember the old "Top Gun" movie.... One of the first questions that came to mind for some were how exactly A-4s making the F-14's work so hard to try and kill them (I know, limited employment options etc... but it mimics the real world)

Maybe it's more than the hardware.

Thanks
Joel
