Another STRACOM HF post from another list
0504z 19 Oct 24
With the exception of 0513z 18 Oct 24 UTC C6FHDS, and the 1500-1730 DEER SIGN standing by for traffic statements, the HFGC has been noticeably devoid of message traffic on UTC 18 Oct 24. There have been two visible repositioning E6B flights from TINKER to TRAVIS (IRON 01; GARBO 12 (SLIP HORN)). It remains quiet into 19 Oct 24: ZIMBALIST (new day HFGCS) has been active with standing by for traffic statements from 0230 through at least 0500z (as I type).
GLOBAL THUNDER 25 began 18 Oct 2024.

11175.0 0101z ZIMBALIST broadcast a short test count. At 0102z ZIMBALIST began his h+00/h+30 "Standing by for Traffic" statements. He's been active twice an hour, every hour through at least 1430z. 13.5 hours.
11175.0 1432z ZIMBALIST broadcast the 30 character EAM P53JAT "FOR ALPHA FORCE."
A different post on same list indicated HF-GCS stns working on 1244.2

1235- Looks like the T-38s (4 X Mig) & the VA ANG guys (T-Bolt) are out in W386 again. Freqs: 238.1/255.65/285.15.
1250- Flt of 4 DC ANG F-16s off ADW. A2A is 238.175. Maybe working in W107. Hearing acft check in on 255.0.

Oops!! HF-GCS freq is 11244.2
Hearing Zimbalist still on 11175 and 15016.The 11175 freq is really good today with no background noise.
Nothing on 8992 yet but assume at night will come alive.

Heard a couple of the " standing by for traffic" calls (via KIWI SDR) and sounded to like the callsign is Symbalist (someone who plays the symbals)

Spent today listening to hours of Live ATC archive feeds in order to find something more on the B-2 raid.
Unfortunately the tankers and B-2s in Los Angeles ZLA airspace were handed over to LA center frequency
307.150. This is a special use mil frequency and is not carried by any Live ATC feed.
So I only found some flights just before or after the hand-off to this frequency. Tankers departing from
CONUS were using ARBLE and TONGS callsigns, tankers from Australia were using ADAPT and COACH
callsigns and tankers from Diego Garcia were using IGLOO and possible DOZE.
The B-2s were SARGE 11-14 and I think SARGE 14 returned to Whiteman AFB, the second flight was
SARGE 21, but I only heard SARGE 22 with LA center. I think they made their run and then landed at
Diego Garcia. This could have meant 40 plus hours flight time ......
If anyone has more info or insight from monitoring or the US media, I would be interested to hear it.

Short update, now confirmed SARGE 11 a flight of two and SARGE 21 a flight of three ....
If they flew all the way to their targets and afterwards returned to Diego Garcia,
it could have been a 50-60 hour flight .....

Do you have the date and time of this handoff ? Did you find much on SATCOM ?
Sounds like new Global Thunder exercise callsign is "FIRE ANT" on 11175 etc. 8992 is clearer for now..

They were working ZLA center frequencies October 15th between 1200 and 1400z. Their routing:
Bit OT but seems today was Bridge Day in Fayetteville West Virginia for base jumpers..
Seems the US Army Golden Knights made an appearance as well.
Saw the other day US Army jumpers won yet again another Intl jumping contest while also saw a Navy Leapfrog
jumper hit some civilians on the ground at Navy Fleetweek in San Fran.. oops. US Army just seems to excel at parachuting.
This vid looks really cool on the big screen.
