GOLD31 & 41 heading up the coast, should have some F18s out of Beaufort dragging along
Boom freq GOLD-31 236.750 talking with MAZDA 81-85 about taking a shortcut.
#5 going to the tanker. "After MAZDA 85 refuels req mach .77"

Hearing that 235.400 also playing trivia. That used to be the old NASA Ops freq.

What scanner are you using?

I've heard the same thing here in DC area on 239.400 (AM mode). My first thought was a local signal that was punching through. It got to be so frequent that I actually had to lock it out of my BCD586HP.

Haven't heard the "kids" recently.
Was using my old, trusty RS-2045 because it can switch modes. I had freq in there as I have on AM it as a 756th ARS (ADW) freq. Freq came in clear on FM

Thanks Ed.. forgot to mention that airspare MAZDA-96 was told if not Bangor go to Goose Bay if possible
and catch up with us there.. See if anything comes by this way later today.
Acars has RCH-140 C-17 #99-0062 from Beaufort also going to Goose Bay. I guess they only had two tankers
to take them that far today... Norway bound eventually I assume?

1045- Hearing some casual chat (child singing--kids chatting in background) on 239.4 FM. Maybe a pirate satellite link?
Since last year I've been hearing something similar in the milair band. The mode is WBFM; I've heard phone calls, kids playing in a pool with Mom holloring to stop slopping water all over, music from where?. The signals start out weak, get strong very quickly, and usually last a couple of minutes if that. I thought it was my Stridsberg amp mixing with some other signals; but I've picked up these signals just about everywhere I traveled in Berks County in the mobile without an amp. Also hear them on other scanners & radios. Since the phone calls are analog, it shouldn't be cell phone or cordless phones as they should be digital. Here is a list of freqs I've heard them on; really a mystery as to where they are coming from, but always in the WBFM mode:
262.5 - 263.1 - 264.3 - 265.5 - 266.1 - 266.7 - 268.5 - 269.125 - 269.975 - 273.9 - 286.5 - 296.7

I don 't think it's a pirate link as these signals are really strong when they come in compared to the pirates on satcom. There's no set time when they come in; only in for a few minutes then fade out, maybe a half hour later in again & out; really stange!

If they last no longer than 30 minutes then probably a relay from either Russian or Chinese satellite - repeating what is heard on the input as they pass over the area. Similar to how the guys in Brazil use the geostationary satellites but these satellites are lower and only pass can be heard while in range of your station. Think like hear the ISS on a pass and when ham operators try to work the repeater onboard.

I will plug those freqs on a radio that can be hooked to the uhf satcom antenna in the attic. Will see what it captures.

Exactly what I was thinking Terry, as the signals aren't in very long. In fact the longest I heard one was about 15 minutes, so probably a pass right overhead; thanks for checking!

Rich

On my hit today the last xmission made mention of local places around here. So, I thought it might be some sort of ham stuff or something similar. I'd say I heard them for about ten minutes, then they went silent. First time I've heard that type of activity here. I only use a discone and a couple HD TV ribbon antennas, so don't think my hit was a satellite.

Could have been an overload of the front end on the radio and possibly a harmonic of the frequency being used. The radio has 10.85 MHz 2nd IF and the 1st IF is 370.70

Ron - I would still go with the NSA childcare discreet freq - once the kids knew you were on to them they switched to spread spectrum.

Now you watch - someone who works at NSA and needs childcare will search google and come up with this thread.

1522L - 8DF (Eight Delta Foxtrot) on 11175 calling ANDREWS GLOBAL for a radio check. No response.
1556L - 8DF picked up by ANDREWS and request QSY to 15016. ANDREWS counters with 11056. Since this was on recording I didn't get the QSY.
