can you elaborate on what alternative will program it correctly? I have a premium membership so I will be importing from here.

I use ProScan to program both my 325P2 and 996P2's I'm very pleased with it. You can try it for free for a month.

FreeSCAN does not correctly import the system from the database. Besides the wrong system type, when importing, even if you manually create the system, you cannot enter the color code.

As webwetnam noted, ProScan will do it correctly, as will ARC-XT. I use ProScan because it has many more features than ARC-XT Basic, and costs less than ARC-XT Pro. Plus, ProScan works for a large number of other Uniden scanners. ARC-XT only works for the 396XT/996XT (which, of course, do not handle DMR) and the 325P2/996P2

I will give ProScan a try, hopefully this will solve the 996p2 issue. Then I will just have to figure out my rtl-sdr issues.
