Hello epn564, and thanks for sharing the pics of that awesome mobile setup. That's one sweet rig, and I think you must get chills when you climb into it and think to yourself, "this belongs to me...it's all mine!" Congrats on a beautiful mobile unit!

I never thought I'd be saying that "I" was jealous of an install, but this is it!

Crayon, that would take a while to assemble. Is there something specific you were wanting to know or looking for? Maybe I can help.

I forgot to mention, i thought about a volt meter but, i have installed a second, isolated battery so If the radios drain the battery I will still have the main battery for statting the truck. Also, with this truck, when the voltage is low, the radio display alerts and tells you to start the truck.

One of the most amazing professional installs I have seen in a very long time!
I gotta ask tho...what awesome apps do you use on your ipad? lol

That is a very nice looking installation. I like how everything fits so well in the console. Couple questions. How are the radios held in place? Are there some sort of brackets underneath that bolt into the chassis of the radio that keep the radio in place?

With warmer weather coming up I am planning to redo my truck. I cannot decide if I want to use the metal, preformed type console or have one custom made from wood. My plans are such that I am not sure the metal console would be the best option. Maybe some sort of hybrid set up would be best.

Here is what the face plates basically look like.

Thank you for the picture. This answers alot of questions, but brings up some more.

If this takes the thread away from what you want please tell me. I will start a new thread.

I have quite a bit of gear mounted already but it is not as neat and tidy as I would like. This is what I plan to have mounted: Icom 7000 with tuner, Icom 2820, Kenwood 710 with avmap, Kenwood TK981(900Mhz), TYT9000(222 Mhz), Cobra CB, Uniden HomePatrol and a portable 7" digital TV. Along with multiple 12v hookups and an AC convertor. My current AM/FM/DVD/TV radio is a double din setup with a large screen. I can have Strawberry Shortcake DVDs going for my daughter while also monitoring local TV using an Austin Spectra antenna going thru a Stridesberg multicoupler that is hooked up to the AM/FM/DVD/TV radio, the uniden scanner and the portable TV.

It looks like I could have a custom built wood console and just have the radios mounted down into it. Would you separate the bodies from the faceplates on the radios that allowed for this or just put a fan in place to keep things cool?

Does your truck have a quiet interior? Currently I use a combination of motorola powered speakers and kenwood ham speakers. I would like to add a powered DSP speaker for HF. Your speaker placement would not work well for me I believe.

If anybody else has suggestions feel free to chime in.
