I guess coming from a public safety standpoint and someone who actually needs this kind of thing; why have it if you don't?

I just don't see the need for two scanners, a ham radio, and a huge console like that.

Not meaning to troll im just wondering

I do not mean this in a rude way at all but my question would be - how do you know he doesn't need it? I realize he did give a little information in this thread about what he does but that's not to say he didn't leave out some information, too. I don't know him and perhaps he is not any sort of emergency responder but for all I know he is a chief or supervising officer of some sort.

I guess what I'm trying to say is...why ask why? I look at these setups as "if they want to have that then more power to them!" Maybe in some people's opinion some of these setups are excessive but everyone has their hobby or what they spend their money on. I try not to criticize people for their setups, whether I think it's good or bad, small or over the top.

I don't believe you meant your question in a bad or judgmental way and I don't mean my post to be taken that way, either.

On topic to this thread: This is an incredible setup and if I needed or had the cash for a similar setup I'd hope mine looked as amazing.

I may be late in the game here, but this is one nice install, I want one now haha. I know Chris, our company works with him for our radio system, didn't know he had a full fledged operation out there.

Are those speakers on th eroof of your truck? If so, what brand are they?
This is Zane from Instagram

The line up is as follows:

TK5710 - VHF
TK890 - UHF
TK880 - UHF
TK980 - 800
996XT
996XT
TMV71a - 2M/440

The TK5710 and the TK890 are run to one antenna with a diplexer. The TK880, TK980 and both 996XT's are all run to the Stridesburg Multicoupler, then to one antenna. I do not use the two Kenwoods for transmit, just RX. The TMV71a has a dedicated antenna. The reason for all short 800 antennas is that my regular (correct band antennas) wont fit in my garage so I just run the stubbys until I am going to be transmitting. The stubby's actually work quite well for RX which is what I do mostly. When we get a large scale incident and I am needing to transmit I just switch the antennas.

As for the TMV71a face plate, I ordered that from Mr. Mounts on ebay. I believe it was originally made for another radio but it fit perfectly for the TMV71a. If someone needs help getting one send me a PM and I will get you pointed in the right direction.

A lot of thought and preparation went into the install. I had been planning the console even before purchasing the F150. I cover a wide area of So Cal and monitor many agenices over all frequencies. So far this set up has performed as expected and I am quite happy with it.

I understand the console is Troy, however are the face plates for the BCT15X scanners from Troy also? I cant find a face plate for this scanner on Troy's site. Also who did you purchase your Troy products from? I'm in CA and have had zero luck finding a distributor.

The monitor in the front is fed from the lappy mounted in the rear. I use it for more precise mapping, Watching various CAD's and Mobile Threat Net in the summer.

The console is a Troy. Those are MFJ speakers. Fantastic little speakers. I had the mounts custom made and I pulled down the headliner and used aluminum stock and bolted them in place.

The part you need is FP-UBCD996T. The 996's and the 15's are the same exact size.

Regarding your antennas that you are using for RX only (the short 800 antennas due to hight issues), what bands are being received by those "temporary antennas"? I'm curious because i'm wanting to know how well RX performance is using a 800 antenna on the VHF band.

Any water issues running the sat radio/GPS antennas through the third brake light housing? is that silicone I see sealing them? Did the same thing on my 07 150 and every so often the factory seal leaks

How do you protect your gear? You have laminated windows that cannot be crushed and some sort of alarm that also informs you directly thru cellphone text message and of course a GPS tracker that also can cut off the fuel pump or the ignition from a text message?
