Correction: You are good... for now.

EBRCS will become a phase 2 system sometime around 2017 +/- a year.

I think that Oakland will be on EBRCS within a year or so. The county is already on it, they're the only ones who aren't... they're basically wasting money by not joining EBRCS. The price per radio to be included in EBRCS is MUCH MUCH cheaper than owning your own system, especially with all the money they've been spending on service calls to get their issues fixed.

Plus, I'm sure the police and fire unions are going to start making a stink about the safety issues posed by the system issues.

"[A county supervisor] shared that he had a meeting with a Council Member who indicated that [Oakland joining EBRCS] will happen, it is just a matter of when and that there are many discussions going on...OPOA has filed a law suit against the City regarding the current radio issues."

We don't have any active projects to migrate new users over to P25 at this time. The City still has several operational work groups who utilize the EDACS system including Parking Enforcement, the Oakland Unified School District, Public Works Agency, and Parking Enforcement.

As you may already be aware, the City is in the process of analyzing the EBRCSA system as an alternative to continuing to operate the existing P25 system. We anticipate that after this analysis is complete, a long-term strategy and migration plan for all of our users will be developed at that time.

OaklandP25, could you provide us with the talkgroup IDs for Oakland Fire channels 4-9 and the airport channel? We don't have these in the database yet. I suspect they go in numerical order, but if you could confirm that would be great!

According to a dispatcher helping an officer log onto their MDT this morning,, Oakland realigned their radio plan early this morning.

Patrol 3 is now a dispatch channel for two specific patrol areas instead of car to car. There may have been other changes, but I was only listening to Patrol 1 and 2. I unfortunately didn't catch the whole conversation.

OPD Talkgroup Changes

According to a dispatcher helping an officer log onto their MDT this morning,, Oakland realigned their radio plan early this morning.

Patrol 3 is now a dispatch channel for two specific patrol areas instead of car to car. There may have been other changes, but I was only listening to Patrol 1 and 2. I unfortunately didn't catch the whole conversation.

On Saturday OPD transitioned back to operating three primary patrol Talkgroups, Patrol 1, Patrol 2, and Patrol 3. They are divided based on the OPD Districts, if you are familiar with the OPD District's, Patrol 1 covers District's 1 and 2, Patrol 2 covers District 3, and Patrol 3 covers District's 4 and 5.

Another change made was related to the overnight hours (3AM - 6AM). During those overnight hours, instead of patching all of the Patrol Talkgroups "City-wide" they will now patch Patrol 1 and 2 together, with Patrol 3 remaining independent.

Car-to-car traffic is being conducted on Patrol 4 and Patrol 5.

On Saturday we went ahead and updated the Radio Reference audio feed to have Priority Scan on Patrol 1, 2, and 3. The feed still has Patrol 4 and 5, but they are not included in the priority list so chances are you will hear Patrol 1 or 3 since that is where the bulk of the traffic is.

(mlangeveld: I will post the Group ID's you are requesting later this week. I don't have them handy at the moment.)

You busy folks must have done something miraculous (or are only using one site). I've been listening to OPD for the past hour and a half on a Uniden 396T, and its about 98% unbroken clean reception.

If this keeps up, you'll save me $499!

Which scanner are you using to monitor Oakland and where are you located. I am not having any luck in Daly City.

Sorry, I should have stated that when I posted that message, I was at 16th and Clay streets in Oakland, on an upper floor in a 22 story building. I was using a Uniden 396T and a GRE PSR 800, each with a Diamond RHF10 antenna. At that location, a Radio Shack 800 mhz antenna gets me simulcast distortion most of the time.

As I posted in an earlier message, I used to pick up the Oakland EDACS system in the Sunset District, but can only rarely get the P25 system in downtown SF using the PSR800 with the Radio Shack 800 mhz antenna. I can usually get Berkeley PD on the EBRCS system at Oak and Masonic on the PSR800 with the R/S 800 mhz antenna.

You can test it out yourself by listening to the ALCO Northwest Simulcast. I know for me, EBRCS comes in much clearer than the Oakland P25 system. Nothing about the EBRCS is going to change, Oakland will simply join the system as a new user.
