To Mr. JETores Re LED Color Selection

Hi,

Thanks for all the help, both now and in the past.

Probably not all that clear how I phrased my question.
Or, I'm just missing something ? Admittedly, I'm not too sharp with this stuff.

Honest, I checked again, and the Shown colors in the software do not change when I vary the RGB matrix that is on the "General Settings" Tab. Honest. At least not for my unit.

I can change to one of the 7 listed colors if I go to the page that has the frequency listings (e.g., "CONV Objects" and go to the color select part of the page after selecting a frequency line. These colors do change in the software when i select a different one

Was just wondering if it would be possible to show the resultant color, while varying the RGB color matrix, right next to it in the software (while in the "General Settings" tab) ?

This would be with No radio connected, and prior to any uploading of the V Folder to the radio where the resultant color would then presumably take effect in the radio.
Would like to see it prior to any uploading.

Regards,
Bob
------------------------------
In the General Settings tab, where there is the matrix for the multitudes of possible adjustments to the hue, intensity, etc. of all the LED colors, is there any practical way to implement a means of seeing what the adjustments to the RGB's actually results in
while one plays with it ?

The 7 or so discrete colors that are available as options in the specific Object type lists are fairly different from what actually shows on my scanner's LED.

If I set them using Global\ from the scanner directly, these settings would be wiped out whenever I upload any new V Folders, I imagine. Hence, my interest in doing it in the software so these setting would become a part of any new uploaded V Folders.

Bob,

Each change in value is very slight (unnoticeable).

In Win500, Hold the UP on R of O color (black). It'll change when value reaches 28 (or 40 single clicks). You can do the same with the G UP button on the Black color.

or

Using keyboard, Hold Black R button UP for same number (28). However, this method will show a slight change around 20 or 21 (or 32 single presses).

Hello,

Yes, that was the problem.

I didn't hold it down long enough to see the subtle changing.

Thank you very much.

Importing TalkGroups....not working?

Hello,
I have a question about the Win500 software while I am in the trial period. I am curious that when I select the Country, State, County, etc...for a Trunked system. I can go down into the Public Safety System and see many many talkgroups defined for import - well over 30. However, when I import the entire list of TalkGroups (same when I do it one by one) the scanner and software do not show all the individual talk groups. It will only create 2 - one for Private and one for Group and it takes the name of the Title - Public Safety System instead of what I enter when prompted to do so. This is for the TSYS object list. The upper pane shows nothing at all and the lower pane ( TalkGroup list ) shows only 2 groups - again, Private and Group. When I look at the All Objects list - I can see all the various and many Talk Groups from the RR site I am trying to import. The Object Info column lists each one as No TSYS for each row. I do not understand why these are not listed under the TSYS tab in the TalkGroup (lower pane).

I just used import for all controls (17 total) and all talkgroups (308 total) for Sarasota CO with no flaws to scanlist 01. Next the 4 controls and 49 TG's for Charlotte CO to 02, then the 4 controls and 19 TG's for De Sota CO to 03

Only thing I can think of is...were the boxes checked?

Anyone willing to help?

I got my PSR500, and i have subscribed to the win500 program for the thirty day trial period. I did so as well for the edit500. When i got the pro96 and the win96 program, I took to it like a breeze, but for some reason i am not getting this at all. I HAVE read the owner's manual twice, but when i look at the win500 screen, and the win500 screen on my laptop, I get lost. Is anyone willing to help me get started programming this scanner in a private msg setting, so that things don't get tied up on this thread? I am not stupid, it shouldn't take me long to grasp it. I would appreciate anyone's help.

Thanks,

Can you see ALL 300+ Talk Groups listed under the TSYS tab...in the bottom pane to be edited individually...like setting colors, etc? :(

Spectrum Sweeper: Work On Trunked Systems ?

Hello,

a. Will "Service Search" pick up any trunked systems, if there are any active conversations, or does it work only for CONV Objects ?

b. Same question for "Spectrum Sweeper" ?

Thanks,
Bob

This probably belongs in the one of the scanner-related threads (as opposed to software), but...

Both "search types" will get the control channels as well as any active voice frequencies. They won't "trunk", though. That is, if the search hits a control channel, it will unmute audio and you'll hear the CC 'noise'. If it hits an active voice frequency, it wil, unmute audio and you'll hear the voice comms.

Don - loving the activity.txt file, can any found CTCSS tone or DC tone be added to that file?

Sure.

At the moment, it's pretty simplistic. It just gets the active "object ID", matches that to an object in the current P500 file, and updates info. I could add more "intelligent" parsing of the data received from the scanner for the log file: "DG" for TGRPs and CONVs, as well as any CTCSS/DCS/NAC values detected.

That'd be handy, and if the trunking systems could also spit out the voice channel used by the talkgroup it might help in troubleshooting some reception issues I'm having. That's not a big deal though.

Software issue??

fmon said:
Yup, check this zip.

I tried everything and it just wouldn't work that way. So, I renamed the software location and cleaned my PC registry of any/all references to Win500. Rebooted - and now it all works like it should. yeah!!!!

Version 1.24 adds the CTCSS/DCS/NAC info to the log file. I also split the log file by date (filename includes date, and date info has been removed from the file).

Adding VC info is a little problematic, as I'd have to wait for that data to come from the radio. While polling the radio, I won't necessarily get the VC freq the first time I get the "object ID", and I update activity info when I first see a new object ID.

EDIT: 1.24 also fixes a bug in the activity logging's "month" info. Every time I use C's date/time functions, I forget about an offset.

As predicted, it was a tad problematic. Version 1.26 has it, however.

The log file is essentially a CSV file, though fields with leading/trailing spaces or embedded quotes (e.g. alpha tags) are not enclosed in double quotes. The format is left as an exercise for the reader - though it should be pretty obvious.

Don - I spent fifteen minute minutes trying to figure out why I didn't see the Win500ActivityLog yyyy-mm-dd.txt file while Monitoring the scanner with v 1.26 - then I realized I was in FAV vs. SCAN. That's when I found out the logging feature only works with SCAN.

Any chance of including FAV & SKY?
