Dubbin,

Sometime in the next couple months I plan on replacing this computer and keeping it running stripped down as a feed host. At that time I will likely add another sound card and add a CPD feed to my Franklin County Fire feed as well.

Anyone have any tips on running multiple sound cards on one machine? Never tried it before.

You can run 2 feeds with one sound card by using the line in for one and the mic for another. You should test this out and get another feed going ASAP :)

ah ha! you have to have separate instances of simplecast installed in separate directories ie. c:\simplecast and c:\simplecast1

just found that reading through the older posts in the streaming audio forum. got that working, now time to program the extra scanner and start testing :)

I'm running four computers and each have two or three sound cards. As for multiple sound cards, it's generally easier to have a combination of different models/brands in order to avoid confusion.

For my Scan Miami Valley feeds, I'm running one instance off of each computer, so I have not had a chance to experiment with trying to running multiple instances of that particular software. I would recommend trying to create a second folder with a copy of the software and updated configuration for the second feed. That works for me when running some other copies of the same software at the same time.

Thanks Jeff. I had forgotten that I still had the original sound card in this PC. So they'll be running on their own cards. Amazing what happens when you actually look at the back of your PC LOL!

Columbus PD Feed Online

As requested - Jim Scott has come through with a Columbus, Ohio Police Feed. Should be lots of action on this feed for those interested. I will try to get a description posted soon as well.

Thanks Jim and all of the Feed Providers .........

Anyone else have a scanner laying around ?? You could be the next Feed Provider.

Thanks

You are a True American and Thank You for your contribution. This has really turned into quite a neat collection of Ohio Scanner Audio ...... I encourage anyone who has an extra scanner laying around to consider putting some audio online. It is very simple, and you will not notice any changes to your bandwidth or other ......

Gallia County feed...

I've had a couple issues with the Gallia County feed over the last few weeks.

First, the scanner died....Went off line over the New Years holiday....(It is in my office and I was off !!!)

Then, for some reason, it "looked" like I waa connected, but, it wasn't registering so I got the email that it was off line.

Anyway, we have a new scanner now. The link seems to be holding. So, we should be back on line!!!

Steve/Gallia

I am having an issue with providing 2 feeds from one computer...I have two seperate sound cards, both have different chipsets. My problem is one of the feeds always goes offline after a random period of time. This is the reason the Licking County Sheriff feed is down. I am officialy stummped. The only thing I can figure is both sound cards are sharing the same IRQ which I cant change. Any Ideas?

Thanks,
Mike

Toledo Fire & EMS is now Toledo/Lucas Fire Digital

FYI, I have upgraded the Toledo Fire & EMS feed scanner to digital tonight. This feed is now hosting Toledo and Lucas County Fire & EMS digital traffic.

I have updated the scanner feed information link with the details of the talk groups that are included in the scanner at this time. Visit www.ScanMiamiValley.com for more information.

Columbus EMS / Fire

Been listening to Columbus EMS/Fire this morning. Sounds great.

Anyone in the Central Ohio group have MARCS plugged into Scan Miami Valley?

Thanks,

Steve/Gallia
