It is possible that the current EDACS system will be transitioning to P25. Unknown when this transition will occur. Will keep updating as more info comes available.

Confirmed through a reliable source that Owensboro will be transitioning to a P25 system. Mention of August time frame, but not sure if that is start or completion of project.

Would suspect that this would also combine the current OMU Motorola system.

I remember reading someplace that Harris and Motorola bid on this new Project 25 TRS. Who won the final contract?

I've heard that the plan is also for OPD to eventually go encrypted once everything is up and running smoothly. That's what's being thrown around anyway. They want to use their radios to say what needs to be said rather than having to rely on cell phones and MDTs to keep sensitive information off the air. Weird thing is they already have that capability. There are a couple of digital encrypted talkgroups on the system as is.

They've modified the existing frequencies of the EDACS trunked system to add P-25 Phase I emission designators...

OMU hasn't been modified - unsure if they'll integrate or not...

It's been awhile. Any updates on the P25 system?

Haven't heard anything. EDACS is still humming along, with no P-25 system on the air (700 or 800 Mhz).
