109 sounds like it might be a Game Commission unit. NW PA is District 1 for PGC. I saw a PowerPoint presentation from the game commission the other day that confirms PGC is active on the new system in district 1

What shows up on the site information tab?

As I was poking around the FCC site I stumbled into WQLM930, and according to the listed information this site is local to me. Any idea if this will be part of the new StarNet system ? I haven't seen any of this information posted anywhere else, I even checked DCNR and PSP nothing there.

ULS License - Public Safety Pool, Conventional License - WQLM930 - Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

Dan,

From perusing the various Commonwealth FCC licenses, I have discovered that Pennsylvania uses specific FRNs for specific radio services, as follows:

DCNR (conventional): 0003174794
PSP (conventional): 0003175122
PA-STARNET (OpenSky and new P25): 0003178472
PTC (conventional): 0003233129
Penndot (conventional): 0003233400
PGC (conventional): 0003233582
DMVA (conventional): 0003235546
OAG (conventional): 0003259686
DPW (conventional): 0004140521
DOC (conventional): 0004426763
Penndot (ITS): 0005377346
PFBC (conventional): 0005377460
PEMA (conventional): 0006909964

The license you mentioned, WQLM930, is authorized under FRN 0003178472, therefore it is part of PA-STARNet. The emission desginators for the license channels (11K3F9W) would support this conclusion as well.

Thanks. No worries. I am still getting used to Pro96com, too.

Going forward, one thing that will be helpful will be looking at the site neighbors that are displayed as this will lead to new sites as they come online.

Craig,

I was beginning to work on a similar list myself, I see Ben has compiled one also. I already programmed these frequencies, so now it's the waiting game. FYI I can just barely hear the control channel off of the Derry site, there is not enough signal to decode it

There are two sites in Somerset County as well, though I am not aware of their status. One of the sites is on Bald Knob, so I should think you'd be able to receive that one from your location, if it's active.

There is a site list in the wiki page for the system...lists all the known licensed VHF sites. There will be 700/800MHz locations coming online in the Pittsburgh area at some point, as well. There will also be at least on simulcast cell in the Allegheny County metro area.

From the PowerPoint presentation that I was able to view, it looks like there will be three 800 MHz overlays to the system; Allegheny County, somewhere out east (possibly Philly area), and I think the third was near Erie maybe?

Dan, is there p25 on the Derry site? All I hear in north Versailles is the cw id. I heard a rumor that Allegheny county will be getting a 700 or 800 mhz channel, don't know when though. Maybe next year sometime?

Jeff,

Yes a control channel at Derry became active the other day, this was confirmed from Mount Pleasant. As I stated in an earlier post, from my location I can tell a control channel is there but that's it. As for the build out in Allegheny the only information I have is what's posted hear, on the database and the wiki.

Craig, The only site information I have for Somerset is Reels Corner, can you point me to the Bald Knob information ? By chance is Reels Corner and Bald Knob one in the same ?

Thanks

Dan, when did the derry site become active with p25? I have bat frequency programmed into my radio and a couple of other frequencies from surrounding counties and all I've heard on the derry site was the cw ider. But I have not scanned that system in probably 2 weeks now. I will have to turn that bank back on and see if I can hear anything. Where are the other sites located and what frequencies are associated with them just so I can make sure I have the correct frequencies.
