"Meet me on ranks channel" heard on Forrest District 4 talkgroup today on the Allegheny Simulcast site. Any clue what channel they may have been referring to? There was also comms on the D4 Rangers private channel, so maybe it has a codename?
You sure they didn't say "Rangs channel", as in shorthand for Rangers? The talkgroup could be aliased as RANGS 04 on the radio's top display.

I would also speculate that maybe the word just got garbled or misunderstood?
Looks like Site 131 (Washington County 800 MHz) is going to become a two-site simulcast cell. McDonald (WASH39) is the existing site, and Canonsburg (WASH611) is being added under the recently granted WRJN963.

Did anyone ever confirm whether or not this site was converted to a simulcast cell or whether the site was just moved from WASH39 to WASH611?

After listening back to the recording a couple times, I think you may be right.

I just moved and I'm a little further south now but not with as good of a profile, I'll see if I can figure it out. Still getting gear set back up.

It had been online, then was briefly offline. After it was back online, the second FCC license was found for WASH611 leading to speculation that they may have modified it to a two site simulcast cell.

So, we are looking to see if folks can confirm whether it is transmitting from one site or the other or if it is simulcasting from both locations.

I haven't been receiving McDonald (858.5625 MHz control channel) for quite a while now and still don't. I did receive it at 5-bar power strength when it was on. Also, no power bars on the alternate control channel 856.3875 MHz).

Just drove down to Canonsburg and then to McDonald and the surrounding area received nothing on the listed freqs or while searching. Will keep an eye on it as i get a chance.

I just found this license, WQTK944, it shows WASH03 as an 800 site, and it also shows WASH25 and WASH53. Could these also be online for the P25 system, or is this an OpenSky license?

Haven’t seen a license mod like that. After reading several times my opinion is
The license was originally issued in 2014 as a open sky system. It was modified
in October 2020.
WASH03 Claysville No changes
WASH39 McDonald Modified and changed to P25.
Freq 855.3125. 856.3875. 858,8625
WASH49 Scenery Hill No Changes
WASH53 Burgettstown No change
WASH60 McDonald No change
WASH609 Findleyville No change
———
That’s a good find. Keep a eye on the above three frequencies.....

Pay attention to the emission designators. 20K0 = OpenSky, 8K10 or 9K80 = P25

PS - That license has been assigned to Site 131 McDonald (WASH39) since it was added to the RRDB, it was never a mystery.

Quick followup: there appears to be a glitch with the RR presentation of the FCC data. Specifically, it's showing emission designators on frequencies where they shouldn't be. I would strongly suggest going to the actual license in the FCC ULS when researching stuff like this. A look at WQTK944 in ULS reveals that only the McDonald site actually has P25 emissions licensed, whereas the RR page is incorrectly showing them on all frequencies at all sites.

Update: Lindsay fixed the bug with emission designators, it is now displaying them correctly. (y)

I was in various parts of Wash Co today and found nothing on 800 related to Starnet.

I have a special treat for those of you not near Philadelphia. I setup a temporary feed for the PennDOT plow and brine trucks operating during the snow event Philly is getting tomorrow. All published District 6 channels are in there. Simply visit http://173.75.215.7:12345/special to listen in!
I heard quite a big of activity on the Luzerne County PennDOT Main talkgroup and the Luzerne Crew 40 talkgroup during the snowstorm.
