Using ProCom96 on 770.95625, I am seeing "Forced Affiliation" for several DNCR (138xxxx) and PGC (123xxxx) UIDs. Does not appear to be any voice traffic and I do not know what Forced Affiliation actually means??

I'm hearing what sounds like data on 40086. Sometimes it's silent, other times it sounds like data or horses galloping. Is it even possible to have MDT data on a P25 Talkgroup?

No, data does not use talkgroups. Data on an ASTRO 25 system comes across the traffic channels in FDMA mode, while all of the talkgroups on STARNet are provisioned for TDMA only.

The "galloping horses" sound is known to occur with TDMA voice under certain conditions. A few years ago I determined that a bad speaker mic cable was allowing some RF into the audio path, producing the "galloping" sound whenever the radio was keyed up. I've also heard the same noise with base radios when the RF gets back into the power or audio path. When a radio is transmitting on a TDMA talkgroup, the radio's amplifier is keying and de-keying every 50ms, thus producing the rhythmic "galloping" noise as the radio rapidly keys and de-keys.

I suspect what you're hearing is someone keying up without speaking, and so all you're hearing is the TDMA RF noise coming across.

I'm not a Pro96Com user but in context it probably is just the system requesting that a radio re-affiliate after seeing no activity or de-affiliation after a period of time. It's normal.

Also, If you have the right Uniden scanner you can see the correct site info. There were comments indicating otherwise earlier in this thread. :geek:😒

I never said that "ALL Uniden scanners" have trouble displaying the correct site info, I specifically said the Uniden DMA scanners can't display site IDs over 100. It's commonly understood that the DMA models are the pre "HP" based model. But you already knew that, so I'm not sure why you felt the need to make that comment. :rolleyes:

DMA = T, XT, P2
HP = HP-1/2, x36HP, SDS

That's not exactly what was said..
Actually I can answer that regardless, and the answer is "no". The Uniden DMA scanners do not display P25 site numbers above 100 correctly. The format for Uniden DMA scanner display of P25 sites is xxyy where xx = RFSS and yy = Site ID.

All of the STARNet system is in RFSS 1, and so the first two digits are always going to be 01 for RFSS 1

Site 15 would display as 0115
Site 99 would display as 0199

Unfortunately once you get to Site 100 or above, the scanner can only display the RFSS of 01, not the Site ID

So sites 100, 110, 115, 140, etc. will all display as simply SID:0942h-01, making the DMA scanners somewhat useless on their own with regard to identifying sites.

We'll go ahead and split that hair.. :unsure:
HP = HP-1/2, x36HP, SDS scanners use the same DMA architecture. (Just have much more of it)

I'm not playing a game, When somebody reads that post they may construe the statement as a blanket comment about all Uniden scanners. If it hit me that way, It likely struck/will strike others the same when they read it.
But we know what's really going on here.. Don't We.. :rolleyes:

Yup, we know exactly what's going on here...Brent being Brent, same tired old routine for years! Are you going to write another blurb on your wiki page crying about me being mean to you again? :ROFLMAO: :poop:

Anyway, on to things that actually matter!

@N3BGA Awesome, good stuff!

There is rumored to be an additional 700 AG site being built just outside State College at the Little Flat (CENT08) site.

Frequencies unknown, but it will likely use some of the state's allocation of 700 MHz frequencies. I once posted a chart of them all way back in this thread, I'll try to find it again and I'll edit this post if I do.

No luck finding my original post, but here are the 96 channels allocated to the states. I'm putting them in a spoiler tag so my post doesn't take up half the screen. :rolleyes:
