And one more possible connection between PA*NET and the First Energy application, looking up the ASRN for each site between the 2 applications, 6 of the 8 towers are registered to either PSP, the Commonwealth of PA, or the PA Turnpike Commission. Only 2 of the towers are owned by someone else. I wonder if maybe PSP had a hard time finding VHF public safety frequencies for those areas so made some kind of deal with First Energy to have them file an application for a Phase II system (that's the other fishy thing there, looks like FE's own system is only Phase I, and is only licensed as such) that PSP can use as part of the PA*NET, while it is all licensed to FE.

I was on Route 28 yesterday near the Pittsburgh Mills and got a close call hit on 773.2875 , came around the bend and a Trooper was giving a gift to a motorist. I'm not sure it was the Trooper, Turn Pike is right their as well.

Odd they didn't use any of the already-licensed ones: (159.195 or 159.3875)

What's interesting is it's the legacy frequency for the District 6 Forestry. It's the same location where the Lower Yoder Fire Tower use to live. There is still multiple licenses active for that frequency throughout the district.

On another note, for several weeks I've been receiving digital transmissions on 151.1600 which is also a legacy frequency for Forestry. I have yet to ID it.

Makes me wonder if DCNR/Forestry is planning on joining ?

There are other old DCNR frequencies incorporated into the system. I would imagine they will be joining.

Blue Knob is between Altoona and Bedford in Bedford County. It says Big Knob in Perry County near Blain

I guess the map must be wrong?

Or there's more than one Big Blue Knob..

I was just going by the map when I glanced at the license info. Had a label of Blue Knob on one of the mountains near Blain. It is NW of town.

This is the PERR01 tower site. I went back and looked at the license info again.

For those of you who are diehard believers that the FELHC licenses are going to be part of the PA*NET P25 system, there are now two granted license and one pending license. I think 13 sites total.
