Very sensitive front end reception on VHF freq's. Use ATT and see if it helps.

That's like saying my car has been acting weird, what's wrong?

What type of system, analog, digital, what band? Some encrypted systems will behave like you describe. We need more information to even begin to help.

The scanner isn't a commercial radio. It doesn't have a "front end" per say. You'll need to knock down the signal strength of everything coming into the scanner, or you'll need to use some type of bandpass filter.

Sounds like you're in a very high-RF environment.

Also try a FM trap. They're like $5 from Radio Shack and can make a huge improvement. For $5 and a trip to RS, it's a quick and cheap fix if it works.

Sure it has a "front end" just like any other receiver. The problem is that its very sensitive and not as narrowly filtered as a mono-band receiver.
