Need some advice on what scanner i should buy, Was told that my bearcat 250, And my RS Pro-97 will no longer pick up the trunked freq's due to rebanning....

Looking at the pro-197, 106, 163 base.. However really wanting a Handheld.. What other brands i should look at..

the 106 is a hand held & the GRE psr500 is the same radio & both are made by GRE &I beleve the pro 163 is hand held twin for the 164 . go to the gre/uniden or radio shack site and look around

You may want to look at a Uniden BCD 396. It's firmware is upgradable ... so if any other frequency reallcation or rebanding occurs, you most likely won't have to go buy yet another scanner.

Whatever you get, make sure it's firmware is upgradable.

Got him up and running on the 97. It wasn't a reband issue, just a software issue.
