i opened sdr++ and was going through looking for frequencies and i find alot of them but i can't hear anything on any of them

i was looking at signals online Project 25 (P25) - Signal Identification Wiki and i think it's a conventional signal i have several of them i can tune to but all i get is static from them.

If your landing on analog freqs you should hear voice. If any signals are digital, you will not hear anything unless your outputting sdr++ audio into DSDPLus via Virtual Audio Cable or VB cable.

HAve you tried something simple like the weather freqs for your area that @RMason posted for you?

Do you get audio on any of the NOAA weather stations in SDR++? (Just wanting to work with a known quantity for debug purposes)
You should be able to receive one of these in Buchanan County
Gilbert 162.475
Pikeville 162.400

NOAA Broadcasts are found in the VHF public service band at these seven frequencies (MHz):
162.400
162.425
162.450
162.475
162.500
162.525
162.550

yes i tried the weather freqs and i get one of them 162.500 it's the NOAA i think. well if i could just find out what type of signals those are i could try and listen to it maybe i can punch that signal into dsd fastlane and see what i hear. but i have put all the fm freqs that is in my area in the scanlist and hit scan and i don't get anything and thats in dsdplus fastlane

Unless something that's going to decode any digit that's found is hooked up to sdr++, you won't hear any digital.

If you launch DSDPLus, click decoder and select all and scan around with FMP24. If something digital is found that DSDPlus decodes, you will hear it. If its regular FM, you will hear that also.

There's mostly FM, but there is some NXDN also.

When you hit s to scan in FMP24, does it start scanning? Post your FMP24.scanlist.

yes it scans i put in all the freqs i even put in the noaa freq that i can hear on sdr++ but when i hit S it scans through everything but i don't hear anything but static and it will make a beep sound over and over sometimes. i tried just starting the noaa station and i don't hear anything just a beep 162.500 is the noaa stations . but if i put in 152.6825 CC i will hear traffic. idk what is up i checked the decoder and made sure everything was checked but it's scanning

There is not enough resolution in the screen capture of your entire screen for me to read any of the text. You may need to capture the left and right half separately to make it readable.

It is good that you are able to receive and decode the 152.6825 control channel (Honaker site). This is a step in the right direction.

I suggest getting to where you are able to reliably receive frequencies by manually tuning to them before trying to scan. (Walk before you run)

You may need to adjust the bandwidth in the FMP24 window to receive the NOAA station. (I'm not sure about that, and I am not where I can try it myself)

What happens if you manually tune to the signal shown in this screenshot? (I can't read what frequency this is).

You were trying to tune to 150.000 in SDR++. What happens when you manually tune to 150.000 in DSD+?

Not seeing anything other 4 freqs added to the sample stuff. Should look more like this.

Do you get something like this after pressing s for scan?

I download the csv for your county into excel

1719158441316.png

Then manipulated it to match Fmp24 format.

Then copied and placed in the scan list.

yes that video is exactly what i get when i hit scan and how did u copy those freqs in like that ?
ok i set the scanlist up exactly the way u showed it in the pic. it's scanning through the freqs but i'm not hearing anything i cut the other two pics in half so maybe the resolution is better.

i took out the noaa station and hit scan again and it's scanning i'm just not hearing anything i tried putting in a local fm radio station and it's not getting picked up at all . if i put the noaa station in as a control channel it picks it up better than putting it in the scanlist . don't know if this is important but just letting u know

The gain is to high again. What antenna are you using for this? I never did the scanlist with 2 dongles. I always used the single dongle method.
Fmp24 cc.bat
1r.bat

Not sure if it makes a difference or not.

Nice day. Get that j pole mounted

Problem is your trying radio which is either 100 or 200 hz wide and fmp24 only goes to 25.

1719163308908.png

And again, in both videos, gain is way too high, its maxed out at 49.

ok i will try that. in the meantime i have switched splitters and turned the antenna it'self some and rolled up the coax 5 times near the antenna, i was using a 4 way splitter but after putting the 2 way splitter on my signals are alot better in sdrtrunk i'm picking up all CC great and in sdr++ i landed on 154.198 and 2 other freqs in that general area and i heard ppl talking and it was on radios like someone communicating with someone else the signal was faint but i could make out what they were saying i looked on RR and i was in the general area that the police use. so i am getting that now but i lost them after a bit so this tells me i am getting a better signal. i will try the settings u said in dsdplus

You’re really fighting yourself until the antenna gets mounted outside up high. Should pull in signals a lot better.
Shortest amount of coax is best so when it’s mounted run you feed line in to where you want it to end and then leav a few extra feet and ditch anything extra. My feed line comes to my 8 port coupler and that’s it. Then patch or jumpers to the dongles.

short pieces of coax that go between the splitter/multicoupler

I do do the whole priority thing. I use Trunking Recorder for playback to pointless for me anyway.

Disregard that. Meant to post allowed bandwidths, which only goes 22 hz wide. Radio stations are 100 or 200 wide. Fmp24 cant play them

well like i said i heard some traffic on sdr++ so that has to be conventional fm right?. but when i program it into dsdplus i get nothing when scanning if i put the noaa channel in the scan always stops on that if i lower the gain it will skip the noaa.
