Mtindor answered your question very thoroughly (he's blunt but truthful). And then Paul came along and reiterated what Mtindor had said, which was nice. Sorry you felt attacked or whatever - as I said, don't take it personally. Some people are very to the point. Sometimes the response also has to do with how the question is phrased in the first place.

Also, D*star has been around quite awhile - the first digital voice mode for hams, really, at least popular type - and the Uniden scanners haven't received it yet. It is always a possibility that they add it but, as Paul said, they won't talk about it yes or no unless and until it becomes a reality in their scanner. That's not to say it won't but who knows. Maybe your asking about it shows them there is interest.

GO HOGS!

A Hogs fan in Georgia, huh? :D
Yup born in Pine Bluff, only here because of the Military. See! Things are not what they may seem even with the SDS-100.Oh yea long time Uniden scanner owner too. Only want the best like when you say what scanner do you have. I would say and put my Bearcat up against anything. Happy Listening!

I agree.

And, we've not announced anything about D-Star. That doesn't mean we are working on it. That doesn't mean we are not working on it. Not announcing doesn't mean anything either yes or no, and neither does this paragraph.

What about support for the KVL 3000, or Satellite Uplink/Downlink?

I knew I couldnt be the only one hoping for this :)

It would be a real useful function and perhaps not so much different coding than already are available as a DMR One Frequency system. If you want a frequency to be using multiple CTCSS and DCS codes you enter it as a trunked system the same way as DMR One frequency. Instead of handling TG numbers it uses the CTCSS and DCS numbers and you can have ID search on and nametag the different codes and lock out the ones you do not want.

I now program the same frequency multiple times and have each with its own CTCSS and DCS code with the frequencies named individually but have no way of avoiding a specific code.

It just struck me that the SDS-100 architecture repackaged into a Home Patrol form factor would be a killer base/mobile scanner... it automatically addresses some of the issues keeping the HP2 from being my ultimate car scanner, and if they put a slightly bigger speaker or bump up the oomph behind the speaker a tad, bingo. Perfect car scanner on a windshield mount. I could request a 12v input to eliminate USB charger noise, but that's probably asking a little too much.

Interesting concept. I could get to like it. Of course, there would still be a slew of people who would complain it wasn't DIN sized (even if they never intended to dash-mount it).

If I drove a pickup truck from the '80s or '90s, I'd have no problem screwing the 536 bracket into the transmission tunnel with some sheetmetal screws, or hang it under the dash, etc. Or If I had something with a double DIN opening in the center stack I could slide it in under the aftermarket radio. But more and more cars are designed/built with integrated infotainment systems that control everything and don't leave you the option of upgrading the stock tape deck with an aftermarket CD player anymore. And I'm sure there are plenty of commercial or service vehicle operators who have the 536 bolted in, and I'm not saying they should discontinue the DIN chassis mobile scanner. But I'm willing to bet that there's a market for a portable/mobile scanner that's less conspicuous and a lot less unwieldy than a 436 (mounted in car) that you can also be positioned better and the screen read at a glance, too. Just a thought.

Ok, I want on this bandwagon too. It's funny you brought this up. I was just thinking on my way home this afternoon that the SDS100 architecture in the HP2 form would be perfect for me. I use the HP2 in the car as it's the best size and type to mount in my Trailblazer.

Y'all talking about the SDS100 in an HP-1 / HP-2 form factor is similar to what I was saying when I said if they make a mobile version, a remote head version would be great - a larger display than on the 536, in color and touchscreen, was what I was envisioning. Similar idea, except I was thinking of a true remote head with the scanner body stowed somewhere under a seat whereas y'all are thinking more "all in one" like the HP-1 or -2.

I would totally buy this! The HomePatrol is the only scanner that fits perfect in my console (like the engineers made it just for my car). ...and the touch screen control is also perfect in the mobile application.

Add Close Call feature too. Yet, a removable face plate would be so helpful.

Agree on all counts.
