After several models with your great location based scanning feature; why in the hell aren't you including built-in GPS in the handhelds? .

So some are whining about the cost and others want to add another $100 to the price tag?

9th bullet point down. The SDS-100 will have NXDN. How many times does it have to be repeated?

I'm pretty sure he is asking about NXDN for the existing users (i.e. x36, etc.).

I believe you question is clearly answered in post #145. "Had we announced NXDN"

That's saying, to me at least, that NXDN is or near ready.

LSM fix? OK, I'll take a bite.

IF it does really handle CQPSK much better than the other scanners, I'll buy one just for that reason alone. In my area, most P25 simulcast systems use CQPSK which my PSR-500 handles terribly, unless I'm within a mile of a tower. I also like that there's some water resistance. I can use it out in the rain or snow and not worry about the moisture too much. Sure it won't survive a drop in a pool, but hey, it's probably not a good idea to use it near such an environment anyway. I would probably wait a little while before I purchase any upgrades since MY main focus is P25...

This thread is intended for discussion of what the SDS100 does do.

I think that's the essence of the question though is that the SDS100 does do NXDN with a future upgrade. However, the linchpin for some of us on whether or not to buy the SDS100 is whether it will be the sole Uniden product that does NXDN.

No. We did not want to adversely affect Jon's supplemental income.

LOL

Just for the record, it wouldn't hurt my feelings if the SDS100 had integrated GPS.

But thanks for tbe shout-out...

What does it take to get a GPS added to a handheld location based scanner?

I install internal GPS modules in the 436 and other models. But as troymail says, if you hang the scanner from the heater vent so hot air is blowing directly on the GPS module, it can overheat it and cause it to fail.

Until someone rips one apart and truly assesses the performance, I'm not buying a word of what Uniden has to say about the SDS100. Been burnt way too many times to count and if past performance is anything, Uniden could screw up a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

Maybe and I'm saying maybe because anything is possible but maybe Uniden really did do their homework and actually put the time in to NOT cut corners. If that's the case, this might be the first Uniden since the BC780XLT that I didn't return almost immediately.

How well does it TRUNK DMR and NXDN?

In many cases, better than my Uniden.... 100% better on NXDN.

I'm working with someone now who is trying to listen to a supposed CON+ system on his x36 and hearing nothing.... Works just fine on my Whistler. Of course, it is probably because someone submitted the "system" as CON+ but we're now seeing it is (or has changed to) straight DMR... The x36 can't hear anything - the Whistler can hear it just fine....

THANK YOU Uniden (and Paul).

I won't be able to sleep well until I have one sitting next to me.

Central Ohio Interoperable Radio System (COIRS) was the system in the video, which is not a simulcast system. I listen to this system on my G4 and it is a lot clearer. MARCS was briefly displayed, but the audio was definitely COIRS, a.e. 'DELCOM' (Delaware County Fire).

Send me one to beta test in Columbus' Simulcast Hell, and on my trips to Cincinnati and Dayton. I could even test it on my feed where everyone could hear it.
