This 10K radio combats the encryption issues that we all have been encountering for the past few years now.

Wouldn't that be amazing. These 10K radios would be flying off the shelf. I would take a 3rd out on my house to finance it.

LOL. You aren't the only one, although you might be the only one to have publicly admitted doing so if you did :)

BIG statement right there! No money is leaving my wallet until I know what those 'extra enhancements' are. Do they fix the shortcomings of the SDS100 as documented on RR or not? Or will they just be more eye candy? I will also await Whistler's offering since it should be out around a similar time frame. My belief (based on following other posts - I am not an owner of the SDS100) is that Uniden rushed the SDS100 to market and now it is worthwhile to see what their competitor has learned and will offer.

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones. The SDS100 is the best radio technology purchase I've ever made - out of dozens of VHF / UHF / HF ham radios and nearly every digital scanner made by Uniden or Whistler/GRE other than the Home Patrols (which I never bought). I couldn't imagine being happier with a scanner than I am with the SDS100. If the SDS200 meets or exceeds the performance, I'll be a happy guy. Actually trunk-tracking DMR / NXDN is a big thing for me. So far Uniden is the only one of the two who does it.

I am in Public Safety, I need a scanner that will fit in my rack of radios, work after coffee spills on it and dog hair clings to the screen messing up the touch screen and loud enough I can hear the speaker while I am driving. I need a rugged P25 Phase 1 and 2 scanner. ie MR8100

I'm with you. An 8100 made by Uniden would be a great encasing for a SDS radio and could be done well within the parameters of cost of an STS 100.

Unfortunately you're dreaming. It's not about big buttons and large knobs that can be easily handled in a Mobile Installation, not to mention a large font display that could be actually read outside of your vehicle.

It's about a lot of useless information in lowercase that looks like a Christmas tree you could never see in a mobile installation without running your car off the Road.

I guess the theory would be you are looking for a professional installation as opposed to a amateur hobbyist who's looking for a toy. It's too bad the two can't be combined.

Me too wish for a HP1/2 concept with a touch display and graphical system type icons and excellent audio and RF performance. It's my favorite scanner and wish it could do lo-vhf and dmr. As 500 are a big jump from 100/200 it must be a different concept including a touch display.

I'm in for the HP-3 wish, too! Fits perfectly in my car and easy to use/see with the touch display when on the road.

Before retiring last year I had been in public safety for 43 years. 17 years police , 26 years in EMS, and I never "needed" a scanner for any of my jobs. What is it exactly that you're doing that you have to buy your own equipment?

I will buy anything new from Uniden and Whistler, as I just love scanners. The SDS100 is turning out to be the best handheld scanner purchase I have ever made, so anything after this is highly anticipated here. They can see me comin' a mile away bahahaha ;)

PS: Proud to be an Ohio lover, or a lover from Ohio who loves both Uniden and Whistler!

Tramagod, I am not here to discuss my job, but if you PM me I can explain how things have changed in public safety for ME in the last 30 years.........I am here to see if the SDS200 will help me do my job better and safer.

Enjoy!

I only asked because you brought your job into it, I was merely curious as to why you felt the “need” to have a scanner/scanners to supplement your official equipment.
