The number five key does have a little bump on it so you can find it without looking.Maybe we all need Braille keypads....

If people are this unhappy about it, did any of the beta testers bring this up? Did they have just have brighter back lights on their beta units? For a $700 plus scanner, please answer me why they couldn't have like six 10 cent LED's throughout the keyboard membrane instead of two. Add the 40 cent difference to the price of the radio and make everyone happy already.
And this is the reason the FTC and attorney generals office investigates reports when companies are in denial, also the BBB, too bad I didnt buy it fron Uniden directly and use paypal. As more users get there scanners more reports will come in. UPMan is not going to do anything. As he stated earlier it’s all within specs. Some will be brighter than others which tells me there is no standards seeing the wide differences in display brightness. We can take all the pictures we want but exposure will always be questioned.

Has anyone been actually s******d yet? They have the option of returning the radio as defective and get a replacement, or refund, right? I would say that some people are disappointed for sure - or angry - but then again some seemed agitated even before they received their radios, so that's something to keep in mind. Still early in the release to declare defeat.I'm dismayed and very disappointed to see what's going on here but can't deny it's happening... Really?
The Next Step will be those with dimmer than dim displays that makes the radio unacceptable and not usable in low light applications will start to be attacked as complainers by the usual people who will defend what's going on here with explanations, rationalizations and excuses.
Yes we know the radios can be returned for a refund and I'm sure there will be some but since this is not a problem and it's deliberately done this way, so move on there's nothing to see here, those radios will be restocked and sold to other unsuspecting consumers, possibly returned again by them and restocked and so on and so on.
Anybody that wants to attack me you go right ahead, I don't care, I'm choosing to be supportive of those who are getting s*****d here. You will just end up looking like who you are to this community.
I'm sure this is very frustrating and disappointing to those being affected. Just my two cents here, thanks for listening.

Just a reminder below. Here are the lower end BCT15X and the BCD996P2 in the darkness. Do I need to say anything else. The dull light on the keypad of a 700.00 scanner should match up or be greater than.View attachment 68370View attachment 68371

Keypad backlight is not as bright as 996 (by design)
I understand that you are dissatisfied and disappointed, but I don't understand why you purchased optional upgrades for a defective radio - would it not have been prudent to have waited to get a radio that works to your satisfaction before spending additional money on non-returnable licenses?Even if you could return it to the place of purchase without a huge restocking fee, how would you get your money back from the 110$ worth of add-ons for NXDN and DMR I've already purchased
Or at least make sure the basic functions work before upgrading. Does it receive analog,p25 the weather channels etc. Then speaker and keypad functions software etc. Then buy the upgrades.I understand that you are dissatisfied and disappointed, but I don't understand why you purchased optional upgrades for a defective radio - would it not have been prudent to have waited to get a radio that works to your satisfaction before spending additional money on non-returnable licenses?

Or the units they had did not exhibit the issue.I'm sure they did but they don't want to loose there position as testers.
