"all I would have to do is download the release 1.52 file, go to where the file was saved and click on it to install?"

That is correct. Due to security restrictions, you will likely be met with a message preventing the installation. On my phone the message contained a direct link to enable installation of 'unknown app' from the files app that I use. I simply toggled this on, swiped back, and clicked on the apk, which then successfully installed SDSRemoteDisplay. On my device, you can also go to the app info settings page (for the app that you are installing from - typically your web browser or files app) and toggle this setting (install unknown apps).Screenshot_20250105-100440~2.png

I guess I should just bite the bullet and put it on Google play
Depends on whether you want to keep it free or not. Google Play charges developers, even when something's free, so some have gone to adding ads, even from ad sources that aren't exactly on the up-and-up, just to pay developer fees.

To put it on Google play, I need to do a "closed beta" first. Which means I need 20 beta testers. Anyone want to volunteer?
If so, send me an email to W1SPG.Radio at gmail.com. I think all I need is your email address.

Not sure what the testing involves, probably just installing the app and telling me if it doesn't work

Thanks

I only got one response, so I will not be able to publish the app on Google Play. Have to stick to sideloading.

I didn't see your post until today. Did you say it was like $25 for you to post it on Google play? Heck, I would gladly pay half of that for you for my donation to a great product! I think I have read quite a few people on here say they would like to donate to you, so that should be more than enough to cover the fee, unless I misread something...

So, with the help of x1sspic (I owe that man a cup of coffee!), I was able to get the app downloaded (easy-peasy once you know where to go to get the file!). The app connected to my SDS-100 (to Samsung S20) the first time. When I first plugged them together the font size was too big (see first picture), so I had to reduce the font size on the phone to the smallest possible to get it so most of the words are on the screen (see second picture). All of the touch screen buttons work perfectly. The only thing I can't get the display to do, is go into landscape mode. I'll keep playing to see how to get it to do that.

WiSPG, if you want to try Beta Testers again, feel free to add me to the list.

I think all of us who have downloaded the app and are using it should donate to W1SPG so they can put the app on Google Play! I'm willing to donate if told where to!
