I heard from a source who is actively involved with the FDNY radio system infrastructure that the division repeaters will be encrypted, but the actual fireground point to point transmissions will not be. Meaning if you are at the scene of a fire and can listen to the handie talkie frequency you should be able to hear transmissions but if you are monitoring the repeated broadcast, it will be encrypted. Time will tell.

FDNY fireground comms are simplex analog, which are not and will not be encrypted. The rebroadcast on the trunked system is merely taking that analog audio and digitizing it, which is infinitely easier to encrypt. I'm not even sure why this is a discussion, as it's very straightforward.

I see some talkgroup shuffling probably due to more radios are rolled out, some of the previously identified talkgroups are now silent and the same traffic is heard on a new block of talkgroups.

For example: Talkgroup 544 (SmartZone Analog TG 8704) for OCME Patrol is now on 8725. Had to lock them out because they are basically non-stop.

Been noticing a lot of encrypted talkgroups on P25, 12641 and 12647 are ones I just saw

Lets use this thread to discuss unknown talk groups.

7912, it sounds like DEP Police, but uncertain

I have been using Pro96Com and my TRX-1 to watch the datastream and affiliations over the past few days. The following data dumps of the three known sites (30, 31 & 60) suggest that there may be changes needing to be made to the RR database listings. For example, I do not see any 700 Mhz frequencies listed and I see changes in both of the UHF sites 30 & 31. Comments/confirmations are welcome.
It was reported a while ago that the 700 frequencies are no longer in use on Site 60, now that the 800 SmartZone system is shut down, they migrated many of those frequencies over to the ASTRO 25 system.

As for the rest of your data from Pro96Com, I see quite a bit of data corruption there. The 800 frequencies listed for Site 31 are obviously invalid, and I also see a lot of the Site 30 frequencies listed under Site 31. Site 31 carries almost no traffic yet, so I would suggest that you clear out those files and start fresh, making sure not to change sites on the scanner while logging, otherwise you risk corrupting your data again.

I'm listening live to Site 30 and 31, and all of the traffic is on Site 30 with the correct frequencies already listed in the database. I don't see any changes required at this point.

They're not doing any harm there for the time being, as none are flagged as control capable. I have a reliable source keeping an eye on the site to confirm that the 700 frequencies are no longer in use now that the SmartZone system is decommissioned, and was planning on removing them in the near future.

My bigger concern is all the data corruption you have showing in your Pro96Com dump. I've been scanning the two UHF cells for the past 40 minutes, and all traffic is on Site 30 using the frequencies that are already in the database for that site.

Nearly 5 hours later, hundreds of hits on Site 30, 0 on Site 31. The only frequencies in use on Site 30 are those already noted in the RRDB.

I've removed the 700 MHz frequencies from Site 60, but that's the only change to the sites required at this time.

anything regarding the DMNA channels that JTES uses? I’m air national guard myself and surprised they didn’t go with the metro-25 system instead as it provides MUCH wider coverage all the way from the city to Latham where the DMNA headquarters are located…. From what my buddies tell me PABT always loans out a Harris XL200P to the soldiers/airman on post AND State Police… they are not giving out the encryption key to ANY cooperating agencies even if they use the same break room 🤣 🤣

1191xxx - 1201xxx are EMS related. For several weeks couple months ago, EMS NOTIFY was patched to 12948. Now that the analog system is gone and the P25 talkgroup remains, it is fairly high confidence that 12948 is the new EMS NOTIFY talkgroup

All Site 30, all TDMA...not a peep on Site 31. QUOTE]

@GTR8000 decided to program this up. Decided to look at CC strength on the (3) sites.

Site 30 clearly the winner, Site 60 CC just above noise floor for me.

I did however notice an oddity on CC for 31. I see two spikes. Site 30 is in this picture (on right) looks normal. “Not a peep on 31”. Ideas?
