I was excited to see this released but I guess I need to hold off until the issue with the digital search defaults is corrected. I have a huge number of conventional digital frequencies and I am not about to manually reset them all.

To UPMan:
Paul, I think I am confused.
1) Is the new Sentinel program for all x36 scanners (like my 436hp)?
2) is my 436hp capable of taking the NXDN firmware update?

Please clarify. Thanks

After using the scanner for a while, I believe the conventional channels are working like they should, I think it's just a display issue. All of the digital conventional channels that you have with the old version will revert to Digital in this new version.

I have noticed on the P25 NAC Search you are able to select what you want for the system is this just added to the update Sentinel? I didn't see this before on the older version.

No, go ahead and update. The issue only affects the default value of the edit box when you've already clicked on a channel to edit that value. It DOES NOT wipe any existing channel setting.

Cool deal, thanks!

I have 100 favorites lists with custom GPS info for most of the east coast, I was not about to do something that might reset data in them!

Sentinel Updated Ver 2.00.01

I see there is a new version of Sentinel up for download. I installed it and choose the version for my 436HP. I noticed that system that are currently NXDN types still show the voice type as CTCSS and not RAN. What exactly has changed? Will this be updated soon so that we can use the software to program these systems in correctly? Maybe I am missing something, if you have any input please fill me in. Thanks

If you had a NXDN system in a favorite list in the old version of Sentinel, its settings will be screwed up because the older version didn't support NXDN. If that happened, your only option is to delete the corrupted NXDN system and start over.

Creating a new NXDN system in 2.0.1, everything seems to work OK.

I was trying to go that route, but searching through the data base through the software the known NXDN systems are not showing the voice as "RAN" still showing the old type "CTCSS". I tried updating the Uniden data base through the update tab and tried again, still the same. If I create a new system that new one will not have the correct voice type for NXDN. Hope i am making since in all this.

There aren't any NXDN systems in the database yet. There is still some work to be done on the database back end before that happens. The database update this coming Monday might have NXDN systems though.

I created a new NXDN system with 2.0.1 and everything is fine. You didn't update Sentinel, or you're doing something wrong.

Thank you, but I think I may have figured it out. Once i appended a new system to my favorites list. I right clicked and "program favorites list" and selected my channel. There i can manually select what type of audio i want...ie analog, digital, ect. There is an option for NXDN and to select the voice type to "RAN". Long way to do it, but it should do for now. Thanks again for the help.

You aren't programming a NXDN system then, just a bunch of NXDN conventional channels.

ALSO: RAN is not a voice type, it is the TONE used by NXDN digital formats, like the Color Code on DMR, NAC on P25, and CTCSS/CDCSS on analog. The voice type is NXDN digital. More specifically: NexEDGE, or iDAS depending on if its EFJ/Kenwwod, or iCOM.
And if you want to really use the BCD436HP to its potential, set up ALL DMR, and NXDN Conventional Systems in as One Frequency Trunked. Then you can monitor deeper and know who is what by the RANs, and Talk Groups in NXDN, and Color Codes, Timing Slots, and Talk Groups in DMR.

Pulled your leg.
Yep. For the record (don't know why it has to be said) the screen customization only works with the SDS-100. It does not work on the 536.
