Pentagon awards Northrop Grumman stealth bomber contract

"(CNN)The Pentagon took a major step toward upgrading its aging bomber fleet Tuesday, awarding the long-awaited contract to build the new Long Range Strike Bomber to Northrop Grumman.

Calling the Long Range Strike Bomber the "back bone" of the Air Force's future strike and deterrence capabilities, Defense Secretary Ashton Carter said the new aircraft allows the U.S. to "project power across the globe now and into the future."

A-10 79-0117 inbound to Martin State. 317.425

Got Army C-12 95-0094 with ADS-B over the Harper's Ferry area heading 080.
PAT616 inbound to Frederick.

1827- N959NA NASA959 T-38 just landed at Dulles.

1842- JNCR TG 25229 MUSSELL11 getting ready to take off.
1905- Some others departed. 11 started it's engine a few minutes ago and 12 just started.
1907-MUSSELL11 airborne
1911- 12 is airborne

2013- Abu Dhabi Amiri flight AUH06 A6-PFC 787 inbound to Dulles. 125.8
No clue what the pilot is saying for the first part of the callsign, apparently the tower didn't either, so he said AUH06

Freqhopping,

Question about the MUSSELL11/12 radio traffic on the JNCR TRS.

Is JNCR TG 25229 simulcasting the Ground channel for ADW? 121.8/275.8

Is there much Encryption on 25229? If it is a simulcast is it easier to listen to 121.8/275.8 for encrypted traffic?

I am asking since I am trying to add better/more data for the Quantico DoD BEE00-14C TRS.
Heard on Quantico TRS; talkgroup 32424 being referred to as Quantico Ground. It is heavily encrypted (75% ENC radios today). I have tried to switch to the KNYG freqs for ground and haven't heard anything. I did hear a large military transport aircraft on KNYG Approach before it landed today.

Just got into listening to MilAir around me since I am so close to KNYG, KHEF, KDAA.

No, it's just HS-1 maintenance or ground crews. I think TG 405 was the equivalent on the old system.

P-3 157325 active again. Likely still near Pax at 6000ft, fading in and out on mode-S.

He was already orbiting the HGR/MRB area at that time. On 10/28 & 10/29 arrived about 2130 local, departing the area about 0600 the next morning. Didn't leave until 0630 this morning. Some complaints from the local population about the relativity loud turboprops over flying at night. The C-17s of the 167th AW WVANG are usually not active in that timeframe.

They must be flying out of HGR then. Definitely not Pax if I'm first picking them up when they're already in the HGR area. That would explain why I don't ever hear anything on the Pax dep or IAD app/dep freqs until they're on 133.85

1545- Got E-4B 73-1677 at FL280 with the ID HAUNT95
1642- LOBO01 161529 one of the last C-9s, inbound to ADW. 128.35

Had GREYHAWK 02 come through going north on all the ZNY freqs. Then about an hour later, came back south. This explains the E2-C's I see on an almost weekly basis over NJ. E2 Hawkeyes out of Norfolk NAS. Finally was able to get the GREYHAWK ID today. Usually come over about 1030 local then back south about 1130 to 1200 local.

Also had a NIGHTHAWK marine helo go south along the NJ coast on KWRI ATC 124.15 "en route to Quantico"
