Probably testing surveillance systems. That's the go-to place for doing so, I presume because of an established 'test range'.

Testing surveillance systems in an established range? Can you elaborate? Both N350JW and N213LA are apparently registered to Falcon Air Service Inc. However, I've read that the FBI has been using C208s/B350s under front company's for surveillance purposes.

If surveillance is the case it's scary because they're in the sky 5 days a week. I'm just trying to figure out the who what and why these planes keep flying over Hagerstown on a daily basis.

Thanks for clarifying - I didn't know Hagerstownians had an SNC satellite in our vicinity. I've been trying to find out information about these planes for a few weeks now and in the process I found this site and your post about N213LA.

Originally I registered to send you a PM about the planes but because of my membership status, I was unable to; so, I decided to respond to your post instead. If you could point me to some other resources where I could gather information about situations like this - I would greatly appreciate it.

For some reason (I've forgotten why) I have a freq 123.525 listed as A-A for Falcon Air Services. Might be worth a shot

Unfortunately I have no ham radio equipment; however, I should especially considering fact that I'm in the field of cybersecurity. I've been wanting to for awhile because a lot of the technologies used in the cybersecurity environment cross over with the ham radio environment such as: antennas, frequencies and calculating their various ranges and abilities; but I'm still a noob lol.

Right now I mostly play around in the 2.4ghz to 5ghz range - you know the UHF, SHF and ISM stuff. It would be awesome if I could use some of the equipment I have now to check out that freq - but I doubt it.

Any suggestions on where a newbie should start when it comes to radios, transceivers and/or scanners?

Yup, there was a program years ago that transferred surplus Kiowas to local law enforcement. AA County used to have some, and the NRP may have originally acquired theirs using the same program. This helo is based in the MSP hanger at Easton Airport. I saw it yesterday on the ramp, sporting a new paint job since the last time I saw it a month or two ago. *I'm hearing* this aircraft was the same helo they sold / leased? when the NRP aviation unit was disbanded a few years ago. It will be interesting to find what frequencies they will be using. They could potentially use the 700 A-G simplex freqs if MSP / Syscom signs off.

Yeah a 1970 model Kiowa originally for sure.. Some searching by C/N number found it sold in Maryland back in 2009.Guess recent new paint job was in line with switch from N554HC to N554NR Reg.
Guess has Marine radio for Air/Boat coms to support water guys along with others.. Good for chasing Oyster/Rockfish poachers etc.

Aircraft Data N6021V, Bell OH-58A+ C/N 70-15198, Consolidated Aeronautics Inc. LAKE LA-4-200 C/N 774

Yup, when I saw it before it still had the HC suffix. The new paint job has the NR suffix.

Easton is good spot for that chopper..Get up and down the Bay in a hurry..
Googling some older NRP stories and recently 2014 they were putting NRP Officers in MD State Police choppers for surveillance busts but now they have their own again. :)
They sure keep busy with poachers on land and water..

Monster Heavy AN-225 working way from Iceland to CYYR Goose Bay tonight.
Eventual destination is Chile but making stops at KIAD and Miami.. Must be heavy load.
I'm sure will draw crowds at Dulles and Miami assume tomorrow but we shall see.
It fell behind in Germany with engine problem but back up and running.. This original schedule of stops shows where next
but dates/times are obviously different now..

Heavy enough load that they cannot fill it with fuel....

That schedule says Houston, not Dulles.

Must have changed.. Also Miami gone... Thanks
Maybe trying to make up time or logistics..
Wasting no time off again later tonight..

Notice planned altitude at only 20k for next leg.. Guess combo of weight and fuel load and extra distance keeping her low down
for next 5+ hour leg.
9:35pm update.. flightaware now showing AN-225 delayed out of CYYR,maybe nothing but pushed back at least 4 hours.
