1833: -119.85- NAVY 7B 548 (something small seen) depart OJAAY heading 050 vectors for arrival. To 119.3 and 118.4 for a 1842 arrival.

Hi Mateo,

SPAR 55 is the static callsign for C-40 01-0015 and the NAVY 7B will have been a UC-12B out of NAS Atlanta.

Best regards,

Tony

Sure do. That's the first thing I noticed when I got home and started the milair banks.

Hi Dank,

Yep:

FDC 6/6445 - PART 1 OF 4 FLIGHT RESTRICTIONS HAGERSTOWN/THURMONT, MARYLAND, AUGUST 17-20, 2006 LOCAL. At the time I sent out the list of MARLIN callsign tieups, 35 was still LJ35A 326HG. This machine has been re-registered N565GG.

Just when I thought I had them memorized.... :p Thanks Tony.
*********************************************
Nice CAP going. PITTMAN 17/18 as observed above by the MilAir listening crew had the first shift. They are using V-11 or 142.125 as tac. PITTMAN 18 is on his first ever shift in this CAP. Flight leader explains the ins and outs of clearing out to him on tac freq and what they have to do when they get home - right from aircraft to the trailer to do the paperwork.
Shortly after 1800, PITTMAN 25/26 (F-16 79th Fighter Squadron, Shaw AFB SC) are coming aboard to take the next shift. Their tac is V-10 or 141.775 as they travel toward the area. They checked in with ZDC-Brooke on 327.0 but requested VHF and switched to 126.875. PITTMAN 25 said HUNTRESS primary freq is Blue 13 (260.9). From Brooke, they switched directly to Guard Dog on 135.525 to clear into the Guard Dog CAP.
At the same time, TANKER 01 (KC-135R 147th ARS, PA ANG Pittsburgh) is being cleared off to head back to Pittsburgh via Indianhead. He's getting his clearance from Guard Dog on 135.525 and is allowed to begin his trip at 1815.. TANKER 02 (KC-135R 133rd ARS, NH ANG Pease ANGB) is now on station.
Early in the 1800 hour, there are also a few Langley F-15 flights offshore with Giant Killer. They are MAD DOG 91, YODA 81 and one other that I didn't catch working MARSA with each other.
1823: PITTMAN 25/26 going to TANKER 02 to refuel. «260.9» Tally with the tanker at this time at altitude 24,000 feet. PITTMAN 25 will take 1000 pounds, then 26 will go in for a full load and 25 will then go back to the boom for the rest of his fuel load. Contact with boom operator and heading onto the boom at 1826. There is no special boom freq - refueling is on the primary 260.9. There was no handoff of tail numbers and unit so it must have been done on the boom intercom rather than over the air.
1830: PITTMAN 25 tells HUNTRESS that either he or 26 might have had a bird strike during their takeoff roll. He wants to know if HUNTRESS got word from Shaw of bird remains found on the runway. «260.9»
1831: PITTMAN 17 asks 25 if he knows where he got hit by the bird...26 says he doesn't but will do a battle damage check when off the boom. «260.9»
1832: PITTMAN 25 clears 26 to do a battle damage check on 25. «260.9»
1834: PITTMAN 17 and 18 switch to Guard Dog on 135.525 where 17 asks for his flight's clearance back to Shaw. Get FL 240 toward Nottingham.
1835: PITTMAN 25 tells HUNTRESS there is no damage noted to 25 or 26 after inspection. «260.9»
1836: HUNTRESS clears PITTMAN 17/18 to RTB. «260.9»
1836: PITTMAN 25 is back on the boom for the rest of his fuel. «260.9»
1837: PITTMAN 17/18 handed off to ZDC-Brooke «126.875», check in there at FL 240 and request UHF. So they are sent to 327.0 and check in once more with Brooke on that freq.
1840: PITTMAN 25 disconnects from the boom. «260.9» and tells HUNTRESS he's descending into the CAP.
1840: PITTMAN 17/18 cleared direct Shaw. «327.0»
1843: Now that PITTMAN 17/18 are on their way home, flight leader asks 18 if he has any questions. "Negative," is the reply from 18. Flight leader tells 18 that's (their experiences during the shift) 95% of what happens in a CAP. «142.125»
1843: PITTMAN 17/18 handed off to ZDC-Blackstone «235.625» and check in there direct Shaw.
1851: PITTMAN 17/18 handed off to ZDC-Raleigh «322.45» where they check in FL 240 direct Shaw.
1858: PITTMAN 25/26 do an ops check and report 10,600 and 9,800 pounds of fuel remaining respectively. «260.9»
So, everything is now in place for the PITTMAN 25/26 pair in the CAP along with TANKER 02, PITTMAN 17/18 now out of listening range and everything should be quiet for the next couple of hours unless there is an intruder into the airspace. Back later....

1907: FORCE 05 (KC10A, McGuire) with Atlantic City (ACY) Approach on «124.6» descending, direct Coyle, direct McGuire.
1917: Just as I was leaving for dinner....PITTMAN 25 is given a BRAA to a target by HUNTRESS. TOI BRAA is 085/13/1000 tracking north. «260.9» 085 is the Bearing, 13 is the Range, 1000 is the Altitude and north is the flight Aspect. TOI=Target Of Interest
1922: Can't hear HUNTRESS this evening but PITTMAN 25 just acknowledged something from him with no excitement in his voice so I suspect he was told to "skip it." «260.9»

2045: Over the past 80 minutes or so, the PITTMAN F-16s refueled, gave an ops check including fuel remainders and that has been it. (They must be on "cruise control" listening to their iPods.)

Continued below if necessary.......

Ref: SPAR 55 (C-40B 01-0015) - Thanks Tony, you had told me the callsign when it showed up back in May, and, of course, I promptly forgot it! So, now it's 2 sightings in the book for Hickam's flagship. The following heard from Gravelly today. Of note, I was able to hear faint comms from the woman on the ground side of 141.55 for the first time.

1704: -119.85 (Potomac App)- ARMY 01053 (UC-35B 00-1053 seen) vectors for 1R ADW
1706: -141.55 (ADW CP)- JOSA 804 calling GRIFFIN OPS and reporting 2058z off time.
1730: -118.95 (Potomac Dep)- FUZZY 41 (KC-135 seen) off 1R, given right to 190, and then vectors for a climb to the northwest. [DCA switched directions to south landings around 1715 - ADW didn't flip until 1750, so FUZZY was sent south of ADW and under the DCA departures before getting the climb]
1733: -119.85- PAT 101 vectors for a visual to 14 at DAA.
1746: -141.55- AMBLE 06 was off at 2145
1749: -119.85- ARMY 01052 (UC-35B 00-1052 seen) vectors for 19L at ADW
1801: -119.85- PAT 625A depart AML heading 130 for vectors DAA
1804: never caught a comm, but a C-37 in USA c/s departed ADW
1806: -378.1 (ADW CP)- "Andrews Command Post, Reach 909"
1808: -378.1- "Andrews Command Post, Reach 909"
1811: -378.1- "Andrews Command Post, Reach 909"
1812: -141.55- REACH 909 (C-17 seen) finally makes contact - he's A-1, crew bus for 3, wants 100K fuel and parking. He's vectored for 19L 119.85, 119.3, 118.4. It's a dark band, of the McGuire/McChord/Mississippi family.

Can anyone ID them?

Larry, none of of those are Washington Center (ZDC) freqs so they must be local ATC freqs at/around one of the airports in your area. Go to www.airnav.com and punch in the name of your local airports and see if you can find them.

NOTE: Check Harford County TG 96 around 2100 local...hostage situation...shots fired

2102: PITTMAN 26 heading for the tanker to refuel. «260.9» (Then 25 refuels and they go back to the CAP and more silence.)
2108: ANGRY flight of F-16s airborne from Andrews...on tac «143.6» and then to SENATE SOF on «139.9» to report takeoff time was 0107Z. Back to «143.6» V-5 they go.
2114: ANGRY flight reports NVGs on. «143.6»
2115: And a BULLY flight of F-16s just off the deck at Andrews with TRACON «348.725» Heading direct PALEO. (No tac found for BULLY flight...suggests it's a single ship flight.)
I seem to have lost the Andrews flights...radios tied up with the CAP freqs, the hostage situation in Harford County and eyes/ears on the baseball game on TV. Still hearing ANGRY flight on tac but that's it. Flight leader (at 2127) says to his wingman it's a good night for disorientation so pay attention.
2128: Found them...ANGRY flight with Giant Killer on «255.0» to enter and work in area W-107.
2132: The BULLY single ship has joined ANGRY on tac «143.6» BULLY says he's still 20 miles out (from W-107)
2133: BULLY 1 calling Giant Killer on «255.0» No joy.
2135: BULLY 1 to Giant Killer on «255.0» to report entering W-107 to work with the ANGRY flight for the next 20 minutes.
2137: ANGRY/BULLY flight changing to «337.225» for work in W-107.
2141: BULLY 1 to Giant Killer on «255.0» to say he's ready to RTB. (Wow! That was quick.) Coming out of the area at 14,000 feet.
Freq 124.6 (ACY Approach) has also been busy with tankers heading for McGuire...heard a ROCCO, a FORCE and a couple of others but haven't been able to pay much attention with all the other stuff going on.
2150: BULLY is talking with a U/I ground station - maybe SOF - on «139.15» Says he's currently over Atlantic City.
2152: BULLY 1 with ZDC-Casino «285.4»
2154: BULLY flight handed off to Patuxent Approach on «281.8»
2155: BULLY flight to SOF on «139.9» to ask for his event number for work in R-4006/4008.
2158: BULLY 1 flight with Pax on «314.0» and again with SOF on «139.9»

2201: BULLY now with Pax on «354.8» and wants the low altitude block in R-4006 north.
2209: So BULLY winds up on the range at Pax for some ground attack work. He's using V-6 «139.15» to work with a FAC at the range - callsign JAGUAR.
2215: PITTMAN 25/26 are still in the CAP...they toss out a word or two occasionally but not much. Wonder where their replacements are? Their four hour shift should have been up at 2200. Far as I know, TANKER 02 is still hanging in there too. Long shift for some reason.
2221: OPEC 48 Heavy (KC-10A McGuire) with ACY Approach «124.6» leaving 10 for 8000 feet.
2222: PITTMAN 25 reports that they need to coordinate to go to the tanker and that this should be the last time to refuel. He asks HUNTRESS if they can get together for training purposes to go to the tanker. Apparently, that's okay because he tells 26 to rejoin with him. «260.9» They then get in a fighting wing formation.
2226: PITTMAN 25 calls TANKER 02 and tells him they'll be coming to him in a formation and asks the tanker to maintain a position in the north part of the CAP. «260.9» TANKER 02 is okay with that.
2227: ANGRY flight still working on tac «143.6» and BULLY is still the Lone Ranger attacking ground targets at Pax on «139.15»
2227: TANKER 02 asks PITTMAN 25 if they can do this with auto-pilot off for training aboard the tanker. It's okay with PITTMAN. «260.9» 25 clears 26 to go to the left wing (of the tanker.)
2230: PITTMAN 25 cleared to contact the boom «260.9» Full of fuel and disconnects at 2233. TANKER 02 tells 25 he got 24.5. (Believe he means he gave PITTMAN 25 24,500 pounds total during his refuelings.) PITTMAN 26 cleared to the boom at 2234.
2238: PITTMAN 26 off the boom. «260.9» TANKER 02 tells 26 he got 24.5. PITTMAN 25 sends 26 to the southern part of the CAP. PITTMAN 25 tells HUNTRESS they are re-established in the CAP a minute later.
2239: ANGRY flight on the way home. «143.6» Talking about alternates...mention Richmond, Atlantic City and Dover. Says Dover is primary alternate when at W-107. ANGRY 1 reports Code 1, 2 is Code 2 for wingtip light.
2243: ANGRY to SENATE SOF with inflight report...no reply so gives it in the blind. «139.9»
2244: TANKER 02 calls HUNTRESS to request RTB. «260.9»
2244: TANKER 02 (KC-135R 133rd ARS, NH ANG Pease ANGB) calls Guard Dog on «135.525» to put in a five minute till RTB request for clearance to Pease. Wants FL 370.
PITTMAN 25 and 26 have not spoken one word to each other on a tac freq since taking over the CAP.
2248: TANKER 02 gets RTB okay from HUNTRESS «260.9» and goes to Guard Dog «135.525» to pick up his clearance...gets direct GRACO, direct Pease.
2250: TANKER 02 cleared up to only FL 260 «135.525»
2252: TANKER 02 handed off to ZDC-Brooke «126.875» and checks in there at FL 260 direct GRACO...again requests FL 370....direct Hampton.
2252: PITTMAN 25/26 get in fighting wing formation again (Must be getting ready to leave.) «260.9»
2254: BULLY flight with ADW Tower «349.0» for landing
2254: PITTMAN 25 to Guard Dog requesting clearance at 16,000 for Shaw...will be ready to leave in 5 minutes. «135.525»
If there's a replacement flight coming in to replace PITTMAN 25/26, I sure haven't heard them anywhere. Guess that's why they're doing a five hour shift rather than the usual four. No replacement for TANKER 02 came in either. The Pres must have left the Camp. TFR showed this to be a four day CAP. Wonder if they'll pick it up again tomorrow?
2259: HUNTRESS calls PITTMAN 25 to tell him he can RTB. (first time I've heard HUNTRESS all night on the last transmission of the CAP.)
CAP IS DONE

2300: PITTMAN 25/26 to Guard Dog to pick up clearance at FL 240 to Shaw. «135.525» and are handed off to ZDC-Swann «360.7» where they check in. Center asks if they are standard or non-standard flight. Standard is the reply. PITTMAN 25 tells 26 to come up on V-10 and so they come up as expected on «141.775»
2301: PITTMAN 25/26 handed off to ZDC-Montebello «284.7» and check in there at FL 240 direct Shaw.
2303: "Another uneventful night in Guard Dog," says PITTMAN 25. 26 says simply, "Yup." «141.775»
2307: Ops check by PITTMAN 25/26...25 has 8200 pounds, 26 has 8900 pounds....25 says they should have gone to the tanker earlier or not taken a full load on that last refueling op. 26 just keys his mic twice. (These guys just don't have anything to say to each other.)
2312: PITTMAN 25 says something that I couldn't understand on tac «141.775» (Getting weak) No reply from 26.
2315: PITTMAN 25/26 handed off to ZDC-Raleigh «322.45» and check in there at FL 240.
And that should be the last heard from them.

Good job guys with the PITTMAN CAP flight.

I've been hunting down two flights - total of 12 aircraft - of Marine F/A-18s that were on their way back from Iraq on their way to Beaufort SC. Caught the MAZDA 51 flight of six after they had already passed this area. They were with Norfolk TRACON on 370.925 and then were handed off to 269.425 where I caught them calling Norfolk Approach. I didn't have that freq in my rotation before this. This was all between 1145 and 1150. Their tanker was supposed to be BLUE 01 but I never heard him.

Then at 1210, I heard the MAZDA 61 flight of six with ZDC-Sea Isle 281.45 at flight level 260. They had broken into two flights of four and two aircraft each in a two mile trail. From there it was over to ZDC-Salsibury 257.7 and then to ZDC-Norfolk 327.8.

I caught their tanker - BLUE 11 - with Atlantic City Approach on 124.6 at 8000 feet heading direct Sea Isle, direct McGuire. This was at 1224.

Now, in the second half of the 1200 hour, I'm back to listening to the CAP flight and am hearing PITTMAN 31/32 chasing a target. TANKER 04 was relaying the comms from the fighters that were down low. Heard the tanker mention the target landed on runway 23 but I didn't hear the airport. The PITTMAN fighters had to leave the CAP area to chase this target and they cleared to do that with Guard Dog on 135.525. Primary CAP action is on 228.9 today. They are established back in the CAP at 1245. First order of business is to get the fighters to the tanker to refuel. They are using 260.9 as a boom freq today.
Did any of you copy this action while I was mostly away and can you report what/who they were chasing?

1247: NIGHTHAWK 8 calls PITTMAN 31 on 260.9....and 31 asks who they are. NIGHTHAWK 8 replies he's a flight of two H-60s on appropriate squawk. Not sure if they were up for the wandering intruder that was chased down.
1254: PITTMAN 31 completes taking on 7500 pounds of fuel from TANKER 04 and then reports back to the CAP. PITTMAN 32 leaves primary heading for the tanker.
1255: PITTMAN 31 tells HUNTRESS about the comm troubles when down low chasing the intruder and that both of them should probably not go low at the same time. He also says they were delayed by Center getting down to altitude. (That has been a common problem each time CAP flights chase an intruder. They can never get to it quickly because of Center delays in clearing them out of the CAP and into the target's airspace. I understand the need for caution due to other commercial aircraft in the area but if the TOI was really a "bad guy," the results could be disastrous. My two cents.) The target went into Frederick Airport and 31 says there were a couple of aircraft going into Frederick at the same time so it was difficult to separate out the actual target.

1300: PITTMAN 32 off the tanker after taking 6500 pounds and goes back to HUNTRESS on primary 228.9.
1301: PITTMAN 31/32 are working V-8 138.15 for tac/chat. They mention it would be nice if HUNTRESS had comms down low and talk about the good job TANKER 04 did relaying the comms for them. They also mention not knowing which of the two aircraft landing at Frederick was really their target.
1305: PITTMAN 31 asks HUNTRESS about his ability to display surveillance tracks on their datalink. He says they had nothing on their "link" displaying the two aircraft they saw near the airport. 228.9
1315: After some discussion about displaying tracks on their datalink, PITTMAN 31 requests a PIREP for wx back to Shaw from HUNTRESS. 228.9
1318: HUNTRESS passes the PIREP for Shaw to PITTMAN 31. 228.9
1319: PITTMAN 31 again talks to HUNTRESS about the Center created delays when chasing a target...says they were delayed getting down to 18000 and delayed quite awhile to get below that. Says it's something to work out for the future. 228.9
1328: PITTMAN 31/32 getting into fighting wing formation in the north part of the CAP getting ready to go home. 228.9 ...they go to Guard Dog's 288.35 for clearance home but can't make contact.
1330: PITTMAN 33 checks onto the HUNTRESS freq 228.9. PITTMAN 33/34 are 30 miles to the south and 5 minutes from checking in with Guard Dog...request to go direct to the tanker.
1334: PITTMAN 33 flight going to boom freq 260.9 for refueling and contact TANKER 4 to report they're 25 miles in trail and heading in.
1339: while PITTMAN 33/34 (tails 00-233, 00-035) are off to the tanker, 31/32 are given a BRA for a new TOI. 228.9
340: PITTMAN 32 goes over to Guard Dog 135.525 to coordinate for lower airspace if able. He then has to explain that he needs to go lower, out of the CAP airspace to chase a TOI.
1341: PITTMAN 31 reports tally the target. 228.9...says it's a single engine, maybe a multi-engine small aircraft. Meanwhile, 32 is still trying to explain that they might need to leave the CAP airspace and go lower to chase a target. Guard Dog/Washington Center seems totally lost about what to do. 135.525
1343: PITTMAN 32 still explaining...says target is directly below his current position at 4000 feet. «135.525»
1344: HUNTRESS gives PITTMAN 31/32 the "skip it" command «228.9» and 32 tells Guard Dog they've been given this command so forget all the requests.
1345: PITTMAN 33 finishes refueling on 260.9 and comes back to the CAP on 228.9
1346: PITTMAN 31 to Guard Dog 135.525 to request clearance back to Shaw at FL 250.
1346: PITTMAN 34 off the tanker. 260.9
1347-48: Suddenly PITTMAN 33/34 are trying to call HUNTRESS on 260.9 and getting no answer.
1349: HUNTRESS comes up on 260.9 to tell them to get on over to 228.9. They do.
1350: Been listening to a flight of several aircraft that seem to be flying through or into the area on tac 138.2. They are having trouble contacting tower for wherever they're going and are expressing surprise.
1351: PITTMAN 31 tells HUNTRESS his flight is both Code 1 and both have 8000 pounds of fuel. 228.9
1352: PITTMAN 31/32 with Guard Dog 135.525 and handed off to ZDC-Brooke 327.0. They are using V-8 138.15 for chat.
1352: The flight on 138.2 is talking about Air Force 2
1352: TANKER 04 asking HUNTRESS if they're cleared to RTB. His transmissions are suddenly extremely weak. 228.9
1355: PITTMAN 33 sent to 139.7 for a radio check with HUNTRESS
1356: PITTMAN 33/34 go to V-9 141.6 to chat and one says he's got a terrible Uniform radio. They decide how they'll split up the radio chores.
1357: PITTMAN 31/32 handed off to 235.624 ZDC-Blackstone
1358: Flight on 138.2 still having trouble contacting Tower wherever they're going...they mention the 175th so I guess they're going to Martin State.

1400: Hear the 138.2 flight come up with MTN Tower on 297.2...the flight callsign is VEGAS 31. The only listing I have for that call that makes sense is F-15s from Nellis AFB NV but these are not F-15s - at least I don't think so because of their use of tac 138.2 although the F-15s now do have VHF radios....it's a flight of four. They finally have to work Victor after getting no answer on 297.2. Now with Tower 121.3 I suppose although I haven't heard them there yet. (Ran out of radios.) Wonder if these guys are part of the Atlantic City show and are staging out of Martin State?
1408: Raven Ops is talking to some aircraft on the ground at MTN...could be the VEGAS 31 flight. 347.2 It is...have Ops calling VEGAS.
1411: ANGRY flight of F-16s airborne from andrews with TRACON 348.725
1414: ANGRY flight handed off to ZDC-Calvert 281.4 and check in at the standard 15000 feet. (No tac freq active so probably single ship flight)
1418: AXEMAN flight of A-10s from MTN at Pax on 281.8 (Earlier heard a U/I flight entering VR-1709 which was probably this flight.)
1419: NJ-ANG F-16s active in ACM activity on tac 138.875.
1422: ANGRY flight is at Pax
1423: BULLY flight of F-16s also up from Andrews...tac 139.15...to ZDC-Calvert 281.4 and then to Pax on 305.2 by 1426....then it's off to Pax 354.8 where they say they'll work for 40 minutes...want R-4005 exclusive north, south, east below 10,000 feet for 15 minutes. Now 1428.
1423: ANGRY 1 single ship is working Pax Range with FAC on 139.45
1423: PITTMAN 33/34 given a TOI...track is 10 miles south of bullseye «228.9»
1427: Looks like the PITTMANs have been called off the target. 228.9

So..now it's break time...back in a bit.

(Ref below) Thanks Paul and Mark for the info. It's appreciated.

Mark, that MAD HOG flight was also with Base Ops on 141.8.

1555: TANKER 04 cleared out of the CAP and is on his way home...currently heading toward Nottingham. Believe his destination is Pease NH. 135.525 (Heard TANKER 05 a few minutes ago on 228.9 say he was 15 minutes out)
1557: TANKER 05 to HUNTRESS on 228.9 asking if he's cleared in...then to Guard Dog 135.525 to clear into the CAP area.

Heard the earlier chase (noon time) here in Germantown while I was on my lunch break...trying out one of two new mobile antennas. I had a hard time hearing Huntress, but could hear Pitman down to 4000ft agl.

Pitman reported the plane as a "twin" on a heading of 220, then finally landing on Rnwy 23 at KFDK (Frederick), was squaking "1200". I heard several Piper's calling in their approach to 23 on the unicomm 122.7250, (two seminoles (Twins) and an archer (single)) so it was hard to tell which it was. Their were two on VOR and one on VFR

Pitman was having a hard time with comms to get clearance below 18,000 on the 135.525 Guard Dog freq. Have been hearing the comms on the 228.9000 and 260.9000 loud and clear.

<EDIT>: I also saw 4 helo's (individually) headed north up 270 while out at lunch (all appeared Army Bell types)

Probably a MUSSELL flight.

Just now had MUSSELL-04 reporting getting airborne and his next destination will be '45' (four five). Then he reported "ops normal, Leesburg".

[Just noticed you logged the Coast Guard freq too Mark. It's also the first time I've heard it since entering the freq into my rotation.]
2216: PITTMAN 35 asking HUNTRESS to check wx for Shaw for about 90 minutes from now. «228.9»
2218: PITTMAN 36 wants to go to the tanker to take 2-3000 pounds. «228.9»
2222: PITTMAN 35 tells Guard Dog on 135.525 there's a stuck mic....[not heard here by me - but I don't hear the ground even when he's talking]
2223: PITTMAN 36 to TANKER 06 requesting 3000 pounds...nose cold, weapons safe, blah, blah. «260.9»
2225: PITTMAN 36 corrects some earlier info to the tanker...says 35/36 jets are model 97s rather than 96s...his jet is (0)109. «260.9»
2228: PITTMAN 36 finishes refueling...goes back to the CAP and reports in to HUNTRESS «228.9»
2231: PITTMAN 35 looking for the tanker...requests point out by HUNTRESS «228.9»
2235: PITTMAN 35 leaving to go to the tanker freq...and does change to «260.9» and makes contact with 06.
2238: PITTMAN 35 onto the boom and begins sucking gas. «260.9» He wants 2000 pounds. Also asks TANKER 06 where he's from...reply is Bangor....finishes taking 2000. This should be their last refueling before heading home.
2240: PITTMAN 35 reports back to the CAP. «228.9»
2241: TANKER 06 to Guard Dog on «135.525» to say he'll be ready to RTB in 5 minutes.
2244: TANKER 06 to HUNTRESS «228.9» asking if he's cleared to RTB...he is....shouts cheers as he goes out the door.
I don't hear another tanker coming into the area and I don't hear replacements for PITTMAN 35/36 on the way. Are they ending it at 2300 again tonight as they did last night?
2246: TANKER 06 picks up his clearance from Guard Dog on 135.525 and is handed off to ZNY on 133.475....hmmm, let's see...that's ZNY-Harrisburg.
2250: PITTMAN 35 to Guard Dog on 135.525 to report they'll be leaving the CAP in 9 minutes and wants to coordinate his clearance for a two-ship flight.
What's up with these CAPS ending at 11 p.m.? Is the Pres going back to the White House each night?
2254: PITTMAN 35 clears 36 to get into a fighting wing formation. «228.9»
2257: PITTMAN 35 reports at FL 250 and is ready to copy clearance from Guard Dog on «135.525»
2259: HUNTRESS clears PITTMAN flight to RTB «228.9»
2259: PITTMAN 35 to Guard Dog on 135.525 requests UHF freq (gets 288.35) and tells 36 to go to V-10 and so they come up on 141.775. PITTMAN 35/36 check in with Guard Dog on 288.35.
CAP IS DONE

2303: Guard Dog tells PITTMAN they're cleared direct Shaw «288.35» and hands off the flight to ZDC-Montebello «284.7» where they check in at FL 250.
2305: Both PITTMAN 35 and 36 report fuel remainders of 7300 pounds. «141.775»
2305: PITTMAN flight cleared up to FL 280. «284.7»
2315: PITTMAN 35 reports at FL 280. «284.7» Looks like they're just going to stay on this freq.
2341: Hearing traffic again on that 139.7 freq but it's too weak to copy from here. All I can get is BLACKJACK 1 calling HUNTRESS.
2346: BLACKJACK 1 reports shadowing the intruder...however, this is training. He IDed the plane as a high wing Cessna, serial number N998CP which is a Civil Air Patrol aircraft. «139.7» I heard a CAP flight a bit earlier on 149.5375 with a female driver. Here's the info on the intercepted aircraft....

Continued below...........

(Ref below) Good catch on that scramble. Doesn't look like DC-ANG got the call - at least I don't hear them. The BLACKJACK aircraft from DCA was very weak here...if he was from DCA. Last time I heard that callsign scramble, he seemed to take off from somewhere farther north near Camp David.

HUNTRESS is also not transmitting from the usual antenna he uses when with DC-ANG fighters. With them, I hear HUNTRESS loud and clear. With this BLACKJACK aircraft, I can't hear him at all so he must be transmitting from somewhere up near you Paul since the traffic is loud and clear up your way. Looks like they started this training just as soon as the CAP flight got out of the way and left the area.

Scramble from DC ANG with Huntress on 139.7000

Blackjack One....was closing in at 4 miles per minute.

Identified High wing Cessna with gear down.....Location unknown....

BlackJack one attempted to signal to Cessna, but doesn't sound like he got his attention.

Huntress advised to "Skip it" and RTB

<EDIT> Could be Tin....I hear it loud and clear out my way....Martinsburg? Don't think Hagerstown is a likey suspect...

2340 Huntress just authorized a "Head butt" so whoever he is....he's at it again

BlackJack One ...BRAA 340 five miles...1800ft agl

Blackjack One identifies High wing Cessna...signaled pilot....non-compliance N998c (missed the last letter, no read back)

Huntress advises Headbutt to the northwest....now bug out north east...confiming RTB for fuel
