I figured he'd be up there this weekend. Thursday night I was listening to the Catoctin Park police, some woman called about some suspicious people stopped along the road, one of the vehicles was a u-haul and they told her they were having a meeting when she asked if she could help them. A unit was sent to go check it out, but a minute later another unit advised that it was just the Secret Service.

1510 local - Viper 02 with radio checks on 135.525

Must not be Viper, heard someone calling in behalf of Sniper 1 and 2 on 135.525 at 18:17 local, then Sniper 01 on 135.525 at 18:18 discussing RTB plan saying they'd be on station for about another 45 mike then direct Burlington 260-270 block.

Ramrod flight has the cap starting at 19:00 local, using 300.025 for interflight.

228.9 in use starting about 19:00 local.

Guard Dog CAP 08-05-2012

Cosmic 43 (who sometimes says he's 41) and 44 are the first shift. They were using 138.2 heading in before 0600. Have since been using 260.9, including for AR, where they are loud and clear but I can't hear Huntress from my location.

1210 local- Had SKULL 29 "Heavy", checking in with Boston 254.375. First time I've heard "heavy" on the ID of these guys. I'm guessing B52 out of Barksdale.

Yes they are B52's from Barksdale. They pass through my area from time to time on the way to Ft Drum in NY for range training. Had simulated bombing runs last week. I hear them usually inbound and outbound on center freqs and some of the range freqs. The area is up near the eastern end of the adirondacks. It's just about the edge of my listening area.

Atlantic City ANG with exercises involving intercepting commercial aircraft that are in TFR zones. Lots of talk about firing upon them...wow luckily I listened long enough to realize it was not real world.
382.0
Bicep 11 and 12

1215 local- The usual flight testing out of Lakehurst on 255.7 with GLARE 03 and GYPSY
1445 local- Had what sounded like BANDIT 02 passing through on 282.3 and 290.2. Audio was so muffled and loud it was hard to make out. Hopefully some one else caught him on the air or on a box.

I found best results with either the Diamond Discone or Scantenna. (Although the Discone is more sturdy). Don't skimp on coax if over 20 feet in length. I use LMR-400 at about a 50 ft run. Belden 9913 cable is also a good choice. Always get your antenna as high as possible but for milair, height isn't terribly important if your near most of the action.
