Still something strange. 167.6775 pops up occasionally with RAN=1 and TG 101 but all Site 1 VCs are
accounted for. ENC voice present like other VCs.

Do not receive site 4 very wel

Do not receive site 4 very well here so I may not be much help on this one.

I am a bit too far away.

The Cornwall site was coming in fairly well early this morning. (451.275)

I think I know what's happening. Some of the remaining frequencies are repeater inputs. That would
explain the erraticness of reception. Nearby mobiles are received.

158.09(25) is in a sub-band commonly paired with frequencies lower (152-154MHz). Some of this goes back to the old IMTS channels with 152MHz outputs, 157/158MHz inputs. 167.6775 and 169.8000 might also be inputs.

Mike you seem to get Site 3 better, I get Site 4 better.

Site 4, Channel 14 is 152.93000 MHz; was the original CC before it switched.

Dave that certainly makes sense.

Are you able to track voice channels with NXDN systems?

I can track DMR fine but not NXDN.

I wonder if it is the way I have entered the systems.
Here is an example:

;L2088 Site 1
NEXEDGE48, L2088, 1, 1, 50, Normal, 164.0250, 0.0,
NEXEDGE48, L2088, 1, 2, 50, Normal, 164.9250, 0.0,
NEXEDGE48, L2088, 1, 3, 50, Normal, 163.7350, 0.0,
NEXEDGE48, L2088, 1, 4, 50, Normal, 152.4275, 0.0,

,

I'm not currently set up to track voice channels this way. In this case, limited usefulness on this system due to ENC, so I've just been watching TG/RID/radio names go by.

May be unrelated, but I heard some sporadic NXDN48 on 154.355, did not capture anything. Sometimes the sync time of DSD+ is longer than the transmission, especially weaker signals. This channel is used quite a bit by NYS FD/EMS and I don't think it's them.

Side question, wondering where the Quebec guys are in all of this...since it is a Quebec system. Apart from the odd word from roots, lots of silence. Should some dudes from the Ontario side have all the fun...?

Thank you....

Thank you, Mr Slicerwizard, it works fine now.
Interesting with the format I showed you DMR would work fine.

Dave H.

I wonder if it is because not many people are interested anymore due to the changing technology plus encryption becoming so common.

I am too far from this system because I would participate to discover it.
I like to discover new systems.

Encryption is necessary - if we tell people where the FD is going (probably an alarm malfunction) then the terrorists will have won. You know that, man!

As for more Quebecois participating ... I suspect there are francophone forums where there is plenty of discussion. Here you only get the neighbors, the expats, the anglos, and the adventuresome.

I think it's still useful to map out encrypted systems as some of things learned can be applied to clear systems: e.g. frequency steps, channel numbering, multi-cast etc.

Also when searching out new systems, less time is spent if known channels (inputs and outputs) of the same system type can be skipped.

On that note, there is a small city-class Nexedge system in W. Quebec with CC on 152.105, has been around for a awhile, location I can't pin down, and nobody seems to have tracked it down. It can't be too far from Ottawa though here it is weak; would guess possibly Thurso, Papineauville, or Lachute. Seems to have police, fire, and public works. Multi-site also (3).

Reply to Mr. slicerwizard

Seems highly unlikely. It doesn't match the format of the .frequencies file entries at all. I don't see how the program would know what to do with fields containing "50" and "Normal".

I figured out what happened, I have too many directories with all versions of DSDplus etc.
So, I was inadvertently running from a directory I don't use anymore and it had errors.

I suppose I should clean up my files soon.

153.155, 159.315, and 159.415

Dave,

Here are a few frequencies that I have marked as being NXDN 48.

Have no idea what site they are from.

153.155, VC Ran1
159.315, no information
159.415, no information
152.570, no information

And another one: 158.090 vc ch 13 Ran 1
Did not record if it was 48 or 96K

154.355 is input to VC 16 on Site 4 (RAN 4). Now if we could only find the repeater output.

Also heard some N48 activity on 154.515+/-

4 is just to noisy here

Listening this morning, but site 4 is just to noisy here, so I doubt I can find any VC's.

For 154.355 I have listed a fire repeater from the USA side of the river.
I hear quite a few signals from the usa

Will keep on looking for VC's. and listen to 154.515+/-

With a good antenna you will hear St. Lawrence County Fire/EMS on 154.355, interspersed with NXDN 4.8k activity. I guess Site 4 is far enough away to not (hopefully) cause any issues.

I may need to correct myself, this might be a repeater output, not input. Both inputs and outputs decode RAN and TG/RID; but no site, repeater channel or network ID. The inputs tend to vary quite a bit in signal level, what I hear is weak but more consistent.

Several years ago, someone on the Quebec side was running an analog repeater on 154.355 for schools busses, and I think this caused problems so was moved.

There's a bit of a channel spacing discontinuity above 154.490 so not sure if 154.515 is exact, but seems strongest there; weak and sporadic though.
