TAEMA's Mike McCool To Retire

I heard that TAEMA's head emergency manager Mike McCool is going to retire at the end of this month. Wow! I guess TAEMA is really going under. I can think of only 2 paid employees left. Sounds like TAEMA may be no more in the future due to the financial problems Tulsa has. Guess we will have to see...

Not surprising. The real problem will be that the money problems will just increase because nobody is there to write the grant and funding proposals for the fed money. Additionally, the NWS expanded spotter training in February has been a cooperative effort w/TAEMA so who knows what will happen with that.

Ah, yes, EMA positions previously held by volunteers, taken over by paid folks. On another list from another state, a poster had this analogy:

Sort of like a small balloon that becomes a large balloon and then bursts, never
to be a small balloon again.
