• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Typically when they release new firmware for the G4/G5 they also release new programming software to go with the the new firmware. Its recommended you keep the same programming software as the firmware. So dont use new firmware with old software.

The new software and firmware has been released to our dealers so that they can acclimatize themselves to the changes to better support the customers. Full release should be in a few days.

David, is there a changelog we can look at unit the official release? Like everyone else I've been anxiously waiting for updates and am curious to see the changes being made.

The firmware will come zipped and when you unzip it, there will be an executable you run. It will find the firmware so don't move things around. The radio should be on and connected via USB. The executable program is self explanatory and flashing the radio is easy. I will try to make a video after the firmware is publicly released to help others.

New Device and Programming Software Release
With the new device software (V0.93.017 I R00) and programming software (R0.3.9 R02) a number of enhancements have been added.
The enhancements are:
1. Added new paging functionality for QCII over P25 Selecitve Call and Monitor Modes
2. Voice Memo can be disabled in programming software.
3. Out of Range audible alert can be disabled (still displayed on display) in programming software.
4. Unread Message Alert has been added for Voice Messages that have been stored and not read.
5. Ability to convert G4 files to a G5 file.
6. Call Alert is enabled
7. Monitor Mode was removed in favor of using a Wildcard TGID of FFFF (HEX).
8. Many "under the hood" changes to provide better overall performance.

The bug fixes are:
1. With R11P SW- Non-alerting TGIDs will no longer vibrate when the Selector Knob setting is set to Vibrate Mode.
2. With R11P SW-When pager is in deep discharge it will not charge unless the battery is removed and re-inserted. This has been fixed.
3. With R11P SW-When pager is off and transitions to ultra low power mode the 3 LEDS go on and eventually go off when the pager is fully charged. This has been fixed.
