Yeah, based on some signal reports from the area, Beacon doesn't make any sense. Oh well, we'll figure it out eventually I'm sure.

Site 144 not heard in Union County, but started showing up in the area of Short Hills Mall. It was full scale on a handheld with a rubber duck On NJ-24 near Morristown Airport, consistent RSSI in the very low -40's with 100% decode and 0 errors (Unitrunker). And on the mobile it is only about 50% strength on the S-meter top of Sheep Hill in Boonton Township, Morris County (823ft ASL) at RSSI -60 with 100% decode and 0 errors (Unitrunker).

Hmmm...Randolph would get out much better than that, especially on VHF. My first thought since you said you started getting it on 24 at Short Hills but lost up toward Boonton was maybe up on Gates Court. But your West Orange RSSI should be higher. So my next thought is not as high, more localized. Try Headquarters Plaza in Morristown.

I just noticed TG 30882 and TG 16 (dec) on site 1.118. Radio IDs included 8804411 and 8804408. All encrypted, all TDMA.

I got lambasted before for being an interloper, hopefully that doesn't happen here. :p

Do any of you guys track federal radio ID's on conventional? Maybe these will line up with a confirmed agencies ID's. Just a thought.

I looked at both the RR wiki list and @ChrisP Fed Files Blog and didn't see any 88xxxxx Fed NACs listed, hopefully someone has seen them in that area.

The 880xxxx RIN is US Marshals in the NYC area. 880xxxx checked into FIO Wednesday roll call as US Marshals Tact Operations.

Interesting collection of frequencies as 171.6875 and 171.7250 are NJ ICE, 172.6625 is US Marshal NY Repeater. 171.4625 is US Marshall Repeater in Newark area.

173.5500, 171.2625, 173.7250, 173.7875 are not currently used in NYC.

Also, now confirming who the system belongs to, leads me to believe one of the sites is probably somewhere within usable distance of Battery Park in Manhattan. That'll get checked soon.

Two possible locations in the NYC/LI area to check for the other sites:

Also, this is probably related to this system:

The area of W 16th & 11th in Manhattan wouldn't be a bad place to check reception either... ;)
