Yes, but is the FBI, OCTF and those "Federal Frequencies" on a repeater??
Not to confuse the situation, but some are and some aren't.... The only way to answer your question is program freqs into your radio and see what you hear.... then, compare notes here in the Unidentified FOX-GOLF Freqs Thread couple that with your powers of observation and try to come to an accurate conclusion.... find an old Fed Freq list somewhere and work from there.

I have all of the federal freqs in my scanner and have never heard a thing on any of them.
If they are programmed, then you need to listen.... and listen... someday you'll hear something... patience plays a big role in this scanning game.... there's a bunch of stuff on-the-air but it isn't on-the-air all the time.... the important thing is to be listening when it is on-the-air so you can identify it.....

Still trying to isolate

"Charlie"

I am still trying to isolate that 162.9125, I think that is it don't have scanner in front of me. The "dispatcher" is not encrypted but the units are. Plus digital. Strong in all areas of Louisville.

Still gotta believe it is Foxtrot-Golf but need to try and confirm.

Also, on side note, they are building a new Federal building just outside the city limits by the Sams club. Looks like might be somemore interesting listening close by with the super antenna.

Just to give you an idea of the coverage if this, I have monitored it as far south as Taylor Co. and as far East as Danville.

I've had 162.91250 programmed in the 500 since September and haven't recorded a hit... for some reason I have it as TSA? Hope that is typo, hate the thoughts of checkpoints along the Parkway and 127 and 64.....

I don't think it's TSA, though they use NAC001 often, I'm 90% sure it is at the airport, did some range circles on a map with Trashman's location info where he it and my listening to the North, the only thing that falls in the range is the airport/Watterson area. The new Fed building is FBI just up the road I think from the airport.

I estimated 15-20 miles for my duck and 25-30 for an outside mobile antenna.
Two circles fell near Ft Knox, but that is outside of my range with a duck antenna.
I still thinking ANG at airport.

Best thing is keep track of floors, (1st, 2nd, 3rd), phone extensions, and other bits and pieces an PM them back and forth eventually something will gel.

I'm here in Shelby county and just got the GRE 800 antenna for my pro 96 scanner and cant pick up ANYTHING... Spencer county is about the only other county I can pick up... KSP 4,5,and 12... Thought I would beable to pick up more than one post 12 tower (same for post 4 and 5)... Also thought I would beable to pick up post 15... guess not - any suggestions??

I am not sure what this has to do with unidentified freqs, but.....
The GRE 800 antenna is an 800 mhz antenna. If you are trying to get better reception on the 800 band then it may help. I wouldn't expect it to do much better than a the stock antenna on the UHF system KPS uses

external antenna, good coax and connectors, as high in the air as possible at your location

Eric.... crank your squelch knob all the way counter-clockwise, until it is hissing.... press the WX button and you should hear something, look at the freq, press WX again... see how many of those you can receive with the squelch hissing at you.... should be a couple of different freqs you can hear anyway... If you don't hear someone talking to you about the WX then there is a problem.... If it is still under warranty take it back to the Rat Shack where you bought it and tell them there is a problem....

Listened to 463.68750/167.9 PL all afternoon at Blue Grass Airport (KLEX).... talked about airplanes, fuel orders and all sorts of things that told me it was at the airport... nothing in rr.com or ULS, the nearest License is for Air Trans in Indianapolis.....

Steve:
Wonder if it could be one of the two FBOs on the field, TAC Air or AIR 51 using the freqs for their ramp personnel?
