Hi

Unitrunker Version 2.1.0.104 is not showing Harris patches on the Saskatchewan PPSTN P25 system.
And yes, I do have patches selected and no patches are seen in the Calls window and the Patches window.
The patches can be found by looking in the logging file.

This message also appears frequently in the logging files for some unknown reason.
The message has been present in logging files from several PPSTN sites for quite some time, so it must be a system wide message.

Please, do have a look at the PPSTN Harris patches zip file.

I can see that many RR members are very interested in learning about the P25 opcodes, so I have included my PPSTN ISP opcodes zip file.
Like minded RR members could get together and create an APCO P25 opcodes wiki data base.

Cheers.

Hi,

Today I upgraded to Unitrunker Version 2.1.0.106 but there were no super-group patches in use.

This Packet: D5 D6 54 5A D5 59 57 5A 47 7A 47 6B, is not a “real” CC message.
I decided to run Pro96com with a PSR500 decode radio on the control channel and the packet can not be found in the PSRDump from site 71.
There must be a ghost in the machine’s software of something like that.

See the control channel dump zip folder.

Cheers

The "E-" prefix means that data did not pass the CRC check. Hence the "Discarded" comment in the logs.

Hi, sorry it’s me again.

Unitrunker Version 2.1.0.106 is not always showing Harris Super-Patches.

See the screen shots and the zip file with logging data from 2 sites.

It would be great if the program would show the talk group IDs that are patched together.
The patch ID is of lesser importance.

This will be my final post about these Harris Super-Patches.

I wish to thank you and those that assisted you with creating this new and improved,
version of Unitrunker.

Enjoy life!

You can't listen to P4 can you? It is the encrypted and illegal to decrypt stuff right?

That is correct, but you can log activity on P4 and, if you have taken the time/effort to map out the RIDs, use the information to identify unknown TGs with P4 traffic. They can also be used to indicate when certain units are active, even without hearing the voice transmissions. Despite what many think, encrypted channels can be useful.

But, as @dave3825 pointed out, that isn't the topic of this thread or what OP is wanting to do.

Greetings...

First of all, I am loving the 2.0 version of Uni-Trunker, but I have a few questions:

I am monitoring a moderate to heavily used county P25 system and noticed that most of my Radio-ID labels do not show up on the 'Source Label' on the active transmissions window of the CALLS screen. All the other info I have selected shows up when a transmission occurs (Source, Target, Target Label, Etc). There are a few Radio IDs that do show up. Did I mess something up in the settings? They all show up in the transmission logs on the bottom of the main active system screen.

Also in the ACTION window, what do the following statuses mean?

CONTINUE
Also, Is there a tab to unselect so you don't see this on the transmission log

CHECK
In looking at the radio IDs that show these transmissions, occasionally one will key up on whatever TG it's on, but no voice transmissions.

Unknown. Double-click on the source ID. That will take you to the User window for that radio ID. You can edit the label(s) there.

This is a late entry that follows the Grant. You will see this if the program missed the initial grant that started the call. The source ID is usually missing when this happens.

This is a radio check. The system is wants to know if the radio is still present on the network. It's a form of house-keeping by the system. Ideally a radio will tell the site when it is about to power off. If no one is listening to a specific talkgroup, those conversations need not be repeated on that site.

Upper and lower windows both have Source Label and Source Brief columns. Where is the data you entered in the User window? Label or Brief?

Hi.

I have been utilizing Unitrunker 2 for decoding the APCO P25 messages sent from the Saskatchewan PPSTN. I like it!
Unitrunker 2 shows the OSP opcode 0x98 as an unknown message.

When the PPSTN was in the design phase a request was made to the supplier of the equipment to include a function for the paging of the District Operations Command (DOC) in Regina.
The DOC pager alert tone.

The system supplier agreed and accomplished this by utilizing one of the radio’s status message keys to page the DOC.
The ISP opcode 0x98 Mfg 00 status 01 message sent by an RID to the FNE DOC:
98 00 01 00 FF FF FC 21 C1 98 CA 88 Op 98 Mfg 00 unknown single ISP.
98 00 01 00 FF FF FC 21 C1 08 49 31 Op 98 Mfg 00 unknown single ISP.
98 00 01 00 FF FF FC 21 C2 E3 50 27 Op 98 Mfg 00 unknown single ISP.
These ISP messages were edited to provide clarity.

How the event log from Pro96com show the ISP opcode 0x98 message:
98 00 01 00 FF FF FC 21 C1 03 F8 5A, Unit Status Update - Src RID: 2212099 Dst RID: 16777212 Status: 1
98 00 01 00 FF FF FC 21 BC F7 29 C4, Unit Status Update - Src RID: 2211063 Dst RID: 16777212 Status: 1
98 00 01 00 FF FF FC 21 BF 40 AB AB, Unit Status Update - Src RID: 2211648 Dst RID: 16777212 Status: 1

The ISP message is sent to: FF FF FF FC = 16777212 = used for messages addressed to or from the FNE radio control/dispatch operator function.
The OSP response message is from: FF FF FF FD = 16777213 = used for messages addressed to or from the FNE radio control/dispatch operator function.
The sender is: 21 C1 0A = RID 2212106 RCMP unit A275 is a marked 2023 Chevy Silverado.
The responder is: 21 DB FE = RID 2219006 is RCMP (DOC) District Operational Command (Dispatcher).

The ISP message sent from A275 to the FNE/DOC at:
16:42:21.645 047 7 -98 00 01 00 FF FF FC 21 C1 0A 69 73 Op 98 Mfg 00 unknown single ISP.

The following are the control channel OSP messages seen when A275 paged/called the DOC in Regina. Unnecessary CC messages were deleted for clarity.

We can see that the network has responded with the message beginning with opcode 0xA0 = Acknowledge Response of Status Update Request.
So, the opcode 0x98 message can only be a Unit Status Update: Status: 01.

When this message is sent the DOC dispatcher for the zone/talk-group hears the alert tone and can see that A275 would like to speak to that dispatcher.
See the screen shot for the 4:42 pm A275 page/call to DOC.

I have also provided a Free Bonus zip file for those who have taken the time to read this post. Enjoy.

Cheers!

Hi, just trying Unitrunker v2.1. I have a Ambulance service in my area which just uses a single P25 channel, no seperate control channel. I can listen in SDRTrunk and I am wondering how to set it up in Unitrunker?
Unitrunker software is for decoding trunked systems, not conventional channels.
