The US Fish & Wildlife Service is a federal agency. Not state. (Walkill is federal land)
My guess is they are in the VHF 163-174 area.

Hey Tech
Is there a DAM in WALKILL?I think I heard sumthin about it durin the floods this past spring. If there is a Dam is it federal or state run, meaning to say, if they need to open it during a flood is that state or FEDERAL juristiction. Also While I got ya here is there some place I kin git the codes that the fire towers use when they talk about determining what level to set the fire threat at during thier daily communications.I was listen today and swear I heard one tower operator say sumthin about an "A7" level? What is that all about?
Thanks
Hillbilly

Our fire danger is in numbers (spread index). The only A7 I know of is the truck number of the section A7 firewarden, division A in north NJ.
If you click on my "www" icon below, it will take you to our sections' web site. It will explain the fire danger rating system.

In ref to Wallkill, I don't know any thing about it other then it is federal land. Not state. Its way up in northern NJ.

Great Swamp NWR-NJ

Interesting note today while I was at the Great Swamp NWR in Morris/Somerset County. While in the office, I heard one of the office workers using the radio to communicate with a US Fish & Wildlife Officer. Nevertheless, it sounded like Nextel® being used. I did notice an antenna on the Law Enforcement vehicle but not sure if it was VHF-Hi or UHF. I was there for two hours and heard nothing on my BC296D for this area with various freq's programmed already. The ones included in my scan pattern were listed in the Scanner Master NYC/NJ 7th edition & the Radio Shack Police Call Vol. 2 2005 ed. US Fish & Wildlife VHF/UHF freq's. This will be an interesting radio area to explore and see what kind of results I can get. Any intel. is appreciated during my quest.

Great Swamp

The federal Officer that patrols Great Swamp is stationed out of Jockey hollow park in morristown. I'm not sure what their main frequencie is but I beleive its in the vhf 160's area. The Great Swamp Nat. Park Officer has a mutual aid radio in his vehicle to call chatham twp, harding and neighboring communities. this info was supplied to me by a chatham Twp. Officer.

The Officer stationed from Jockey Hollow is a National Park Ranger not Fish and Wildlife. I
guess the PO that you talked to, isn't knowledable about it.

I checked their web site and they do in fact patrol the great swamp. My friend in Chatham most likely assumed that they were all under the same umbrella and out of jockey hollow. They did have a VHF mutual aid radio on 156.15. But I'm sure you know Chatham Twp. went up to UHF. I beleive harding is still on VHF. I used to dispatch Up in Morris county for "Morris county radio" in the seventies. The dispatch center was located at the old museum near Lewis Morris park. I beleive there used to be a county park p.d. sub station their. It's been awhile since I've been up that way.

Thanks for the correction.
