Using a Boafeng UV-5R for a Broadcasting fees

I am currently planning on using a UV-5R for a Broadcastify feed and am wondering if I could use a standard headphone audio jack cable plugged into the Boafeng speaker mic and the PC's Mic input or would I use the programming cable running to the PC's USB. I am currently using Scanner cast for software. Any help would be appreciated.

You can't use a standard 3.5 mm stereo cable.
The UV-5R doesn't have a USB audio device so you can't get audio from the radio to a PC USB port. The programming cable can't do USB audio.

I'm not familiar with those. If it has a jack for an earphone that would probably work.

The audio out jack on the baofeng is 2.5mm. Get yourself a 2.5>3.5 adapter and go for it. Mine have been set up this way for years.

you may have to trim a little plastic away around the 2.5 mm plug as the slot in the radio housing is a little narrow in this area

Almost all frequencys are in the 127 megahertz Public Service range. Everything is analog, but some channels have tones.

I know I can pick the frequencys up, just didn't know what kind of equipment I needed to push the audio from the radio to the PC, but thanks.

As noted many posts back, you need a standard audio cable ( 3.5mm) and a 3.5 female by 2.5 male adapter. That is all you need to connect the radio to the PC.
