Has anyone had any success hearing anything out of Vinton other than North Benton Ambulance? RR has PD, FD and EMS frequencies listed but I have never once heard anything. Wondering if they are on a trunked system and just not listed.
Everything PD & County is encrypted. Believe they are still using VHF P25.Has anyone had any success hearing anything out of Vinton other than North Benton Ambulance? Thank you very much. Go Hawks!!Everything PD & County is encrypted. Believe they are still using VHF P25.
Thank you, I do still receive transmissions on that frequencies but it is more of a county wide dispatch. Just today I heard Blairstown on it.154.815 used to carry police traffic for Urbana and Shellsburg. When their radio's un-key it sends a DTMF.

In the Linn/Benton County Area is there any usage of DMR or ProVoice? I see Alliant Energy is DMR but wondering if it is even worth upgrading my BCD996P2 for DMR or ProVoice. I hear mixed reviews on the usage of those systems.
Thank you very much Tim. Sounds like it would be beneficial to get the DMR key for my radio. No ProVoice other than the occasional amateur radio running ProVoice on simplex.
A lot of utilities, public works, and business utilize DMR in both counties. I'm now aware of any DMR usage for any police/fire/ems.
There are some ham radio repeaters utilizing DMR as well.

Yes I have but since RR has blocked part of the searching features such as frequency searches, I don't put anything here any longer, I just use fcc search at fjallfoss.fcc.gov, as far as new signals they have some new signals on the air here and now.Has anyone had any success hearing anything out of Vinton other than North Benton Ambulance? The grain trucks running between adm and suppliers seem to be using nxdn simplex along 380 its in the clear. The major towing company for Linn county also has it but not the best coverage as the repeaters are in Cedar Rapids. Also seeing a lot that may be NXDN when I am searching. It would be nice to know if anyone around me has these programmed and are actually receiving transmissions via DMR or NXDN before purchasing the Key to unlock them on my device. How I understand it is they may have the license to use them but not all do.
Great feedback thank you. How about Public Works and DMR in this area? I miss the days of all conventional. The grain trucks running between adm and suppliers seem to be using nxdn simplex along 380 its in the clear. I just ran across this playing around with DSDPlus!!!! I was wondering why no action on it. I'll have to setup a record to check it out.Benton County has been testing their SARA system the last two days (actually pretty funny transmissions) They are looking to go live in July on the SARA network.
