Yes...a beta release for NXDN (Fusion and D-STAR also!), like they did with DMR, would be acceptable. I really hope they release something soon.
I heard my county fire dispatch say a channel name I didn't have, so I used the Discovery feature to search the UHF band looking for the unknown channel. In a short amount of time I had a huge list of new stuff. Among those hits, about a half-dozen (so far) were NXDN. Initially, the NXDN appeared as a hangup with no audio. It was only when I turned the squelch to 1 or 0 that it unmuted the NXDN data.
Discovery Mode is pretty neat, but the timeout feature didn't work on these hangups. And "Compare to Database" almost worked (or worked on Conventional), but failed to work on DMR Capacity Plus or Connect Plus systems...and recorded DMR hits on "known" DMR systems. Otherwise, it vacuumed up a lot of stuff. There could be some improvement there. The good thing was its ability to recheck frequencies it already knew for new access code (PL, DPL, CC, NAC) activity, and list them as new records. Discovery Mode has potential, although reviewing the huge "Summary" of hits can take a while to sort through.
