The "default" return is set at one month. Actual return time could be longer, or shorter, depending on how many other units are in for repair (the 'other' items might include other Uniden products, such as marine radios, CB, and FRS, in addition to scanners). Also, the return time could be extended if the part(s) needed are not in stock, and have to be sent to the repair shop. If I recall, the turn around time on my two units (a 436HP & a 536HP) was less than two weeks, but I'm close to the repair site. How long from when you sent it in, did you get it back? Mine is about a month for the estimated return date. I needed to wait until airshow season was over.
Send a PM to @UnidenSupport to get that resolved. You shouldn't have to buy a new key.I had the repair done and got the radio back in a week and a half. Working great. Thank you Uniden. OK have a Issue?!? I noticed that my NXDN don't decode and went in to type in my KEY again and will not take. Verified my SN is the same and it is. But the check sum number has changed. Do I need to buy another key or what? Anyone have or had the same issue? Thanks
For the 436HP, the clock & display repair involves changing out the circuit board. They are supposed to reflash the replacement board with the same ESN as the original, so that the most you need to do is re-enter the upgrade key(s). (For the 536HP, neither the clock nor dim display repair involves replacing the circuit board, so your keys should be unaffected.)Just sent my 436 in last week...
I'll have to look at that when it comes back and see if they did it on mine too...
That was my thinking also, and so the reason behind my post. I could even live without the clock (I have a watch that tells time ). If there was some hack to disable the prompt to set the clock, I'd be good with that.I don't think they ever really pinned it down to a specific serial number run or year...
although you would think one from 2017 would have no problems...
My 536 has the most recent firmware update and will allow me to bypass the clock setting. It's just a pain every time I turn the scanner on. Of course, I suppose I can just never turn the scanner off, but that doesn't seem like a good workaround. Anyway, I can't say I'll never use the recording function. You only need the clock if your going to use the recording feature...
The thing uniden did before the campaign came along was make a firmware update that would let you bypass the clock setting
when turning on the radio... Other wise the radio would not start up untill the time and date were set...
That was quite aways back on firmware updates... Like back in the 2015 time frame...
Your radio should have that...
